A name who once dominated NFL head-coaching cycles a few years ago has been on the lips of candidates and teams alike in recent weeks. Multiple sources tell CBS Sports that UCLA head coach Chip Kelly has been mentioned as a possible offensive coordinator by multiple head-coaching candidates this cycle, and multiple teams have started due diligence on the former Eagles and 49ers head coach for their potential offensive coordinator vacancy.
Kelly, 60, has been at UCLA since 2018 with a 35-34 record, including a 25-13 mark in the past three seasons.
Kelly ushered in an offensive revolution in the NFL in the 2010s with his hurry-up offense and RPO-laden schemes.

With what college football has become with the 24-7-365 roster management issues, this may be the start of a trend of college coaches just getting fed up and moving to the pros.

UCLA portal would open. Wonder if there’s anyone worth taking.

Or he’s a bad head coach and won’t make it past next season. You really think someone will take a big pay cut and a demotion over NIL? This sounds like his agent fishing for other jobs before he gets fired.

Chip is definitely a guy I could see saying “f this” to the current college landscape.
Last week I was saying Bruce Feldman is as connected as they come and said on his pod he’s spoken with many top 20 coaches that are about done with college and said don’t be surprised if we hear some big names jump to the NFL

True. Some college coaches are fed up and their agents are floating their names to NFL clubs.

I would not be surprised to see BK hang it up early in 2-3 years and announce an early retirement. He seems like the type of coach who’d be fed up with this current system.

I think if BK wins a championship, he would consider hanging it up.

Are we sure he hasn’t interviewed for the Falcons HC job along with everyone else?

Recruiting year round was already a bitch, but at least then once the hay was in the barn you were good, now you have to continually recruit your own damn roster. Sounds miserable

Yes, because the Falcons have posted every interview on their website

Josh Pate has argued that Chip Kelly is a guy who would do well in the NIL climate. He’s in a huge market with lots of rich alumni and he’s got a reputation as an offensive wizard. He can just get the money guys to write checks and buy talent, instead of trying to recruit.
