LDWF needs move deer and duck hunting season dates 30 days later.

We need as hunters to advocate moving hunting seasons 30 days later and ending 30 days later than current dates.
One example is moving archery deer to Nov 1 - Feb 28 etc. Our normal hunting weather conditions are occurring 1 month later now days. Our Oct weather we used to have now is in Nov. LDWF could still keep dove season in Sept to co-exist with corn harvesting, but start other seasons 30 days later and end them 30 days later. We are now just getting our coldest weather and deer and duck season are nearly over.

Once again, LDWF has no control over DUCKS!
You need to contact USFW and make them aware of your concerns about season start and end dates.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

Maybe in your area, but Deer in some areas would have already bred if you postpone it 30 days
And for ducks that would be bad. Pair bonds would be broken up
There are wood ducks starting to nest right now in some places

If you can’t kill 6 deer with the current season I don’t know what to tell you.

Those mother frickers are easy to decoy in Feb I’ll give you that.

you may want to go back and actually compare weather data... because despite the climate change alarmists it's not much different that 80s or 90s. even the 70s

There are 120 days to hunt deer everywhere in Louisiana. 1/3 of the year. If you can’t do whatever it is you need to do in that timeframe, it’s on you

As someone who hunts in area 9 in St. Mary parish. We barely have rifle season during the rut. I always say rifle should start on Dec 15 or later and open until Feb 15th. All of our doe days I still have spotted fawns and does full of milk and nursing due to our deer breeding so late. It isnt just my property either it is everyone around us. I say rifle until Feb 15th then archery until last day of Feb would be perfect.

It amazes me that people think seasons should be set so they can maximize kills. But don’t think if that was the case then populations would get worse.

Deer season is based on rut and subsequently fawns being self sustainable.
Also, in many parts of the state, bucks start losing antlers late Feb
Now as for ducks? I agree however it’s a federal issue and since the feds are most interested in stifling its citizens I wouldn’t expect any relief

This complaint has been around since AT LEAST the early 1980's. It hasn't changed yet. Stop wasting your effort.

What really needs to happen is the limit changed. No one needs to kill six deer a season.
^ This is why you don’t see them! Want the ability to kill bigger bucks and or see more deer, then advocate for reducing the limit down and manage the deer better. There is nothing wrong with the dates of the seasons as it coincides with the RUT!

I’d trade the current season and 6 tags for:
One doe tag
One buck tag
And no closed deer season
Tags expire at 30 minutes after sunset December 31. New tags issued at 30 minutes before sunrise January 1.
Shoot your doe and your big rack when you want, seems simple enough.

Don't deer hunt so I could give a shite about that. But have been duck hunting for over 40 years seriously, watching the patterns, migrations and what not. Over here in the west zone of La., and not counting the areas in SWLA, we see more ducks in the first split, than the second. And its been that way since the late 80's. I would like to see it open the last week in October and run 45 days straight, and be done with it. And I would also like for Louisiana to let parishes define their own seasons. No sense in lumping Vernon parish with those that border marshes, rice fields and the like. We are killing birds that are migrating and stopping for a rest and water. We have no agricultural land here, the only food we have is acorns and a bit of duck weed. I know areas of food love hunting ducks late, which is fine, but not for this area. And with the drought this year there have been no wooducks whatsoever because the acorn shed was lite. Normally you would see about a hundred wooducks on any given morning. Yesterday I hunted and didn't see a single wooduck.

In some areas like the southwestern part of the state, the rut is in early/mid October. You want those poor guys to skip their rut?
It does make sense in other areas like in the Atchafalaya that rut in late January/early Feb.

Duck season I agree a week or two would be helpful. Deer season I am fine with, if you are one of those places with a later rut, maybe move.
I am for reducing the number of deer killed and limiting the days a few.

Ducks will be paired off within 2 weeks of the current end of the season...30 days later than that would have a seriously negative impact on breeding. I have heard it from Southern California to Georgia and Florida but it would be a seriously bad idea to hunt ducks on any scale that late in the season on the southern fringe of the wintering grounds.
