Wrestling in Louisiana’s not been the same since Mid-South closed shop.

Catholic won Classic last year when Gilroy was not invited. Catholic is usually a top 5 wrestling school in the state. They are not very good this year since they lost 2 very good assistant coaches to a nearby public school. Catholic hates Jesuit and Jesuit hates Catholic. It isn't that big of a stretch to believe Gilroy was invited to sabotage Jesuit's chance at the title since Catholic knew they had no chance this year.

so their coach invited Gilroy to make sure Jesuit wouldn't take the title.

And Jesuit was still the best LA team there… I don’t get this. It’s not like Catholic can dodge Jesuit at state

He invited Cormier and his team to wrestle in the tournament.. They were trying to do it last year for the 50th, but the team couldn't make it..

and it's Ravannack...

It's crazy to me that someone from Metry was the president of USA Wrestling, and this state has the weakest wrestling scene in the country

Meh if I thought a sport here had the weakest scene in the country, it would be basketball

Probably. And for that reason why even put merit into this Facebook rant

Louisiana wrestling isn’t weak. It’s probably better than any state in the south.

I'm mostly referring to the youth side. The youth tournament schedule here is a joke.

The rumor was that they all moved to giltoy just to wrestle for DC. Shocking I tell you.

That totally makes sense... I hadn't heard that, but could believe it.. Hell, Look what JT Curtis does with football recruiting here.

I've never seen a team so stacked before. They completely destroyed Rummel in that duel, They would also destroy BM and Jesuit, I mean some of Rummel's best were pinned in the first minute, it was crazy. Rummel's only win was 113 with Dominick Durham pinning their kid. They were all fast and strong...

Even though they got their asses handed to them, they got to wrestle against a nationally ranked team, to see what it takes to compete on that level.

Most HS programs go to a college camp during the summer to train and learn, Cormier brought that team to Russia for a camp. He has some big money backers with MMA, hell, the guy is good friends with Joe Rogan.

He actually responded in that same FB thread last night agreeing with her.

Looks like she took the entire post down sometime last night. Guessing the comments weren’t going her way.

I mean if they are trying to find the best wrestlers in the state, seems like the easiest solution to prevent this from happening would be for someone else to host a Louisiana only tourney where its weight classes only, regardless of school classification

There's some pretty hefty competition in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and the Carolinas...

NC State is a top ranked program along with VT.

Brother Martin was ranked in the teens nationally in the early 2000s. They’d go head to head with other nationally ranked programs like El Reno Oklahoma and others at Lee. So would some of the Jesuit guys.

That only helps improve the sports profile in the state.

Even competition coached by Daniel Cormier? That’s several levels above what those schools have. He’s also learned from several wrestlers from Dagestan, many of whom are best in the world

But your greatest lessons come from losses

Hell I’m trying to learn wrestling and judo to help my standup grappling game for jiu jitsu to make me a better competitor while in my 40’s. I just regret not learning sooner
