I think Jose and Naji should probably rotate depending on matchup

I guess im ok with that but personally I believe Jose is the better player than Naji so he shouldn’t have his minutes reduced. I think thats the issue- its hard to give minutes to a player when talent wise other guys are better than him.

It doesn't matter what Naji shoots because he will never command the same kind of attention Hawkins gets and he will never generate the same kind of spacing by just being on the floor.

We have plenty of guys who can give you the long switchable defense but none of them can give you what Hawkins bring to the floor.

The first part of my post was saying Hawkins should play.

I’m not comparing Naji to Hawk I’m comparing him to the other people he would be battling for minutes, which are Jose and potentially Dyson (although I think Dyson should get run regardless), and it’s kind of hard to argue that Naji doesn’t give more offense than Dyson at the moment

1. I expect that to change
2. I think even if it doesn’t change Dyson should get the minutes

You not worried about the possible ice on roads ?

And Jonas played in both.

I just noticed that we are 12-8 at home and 12-8 on the road. I don't think that this means that we don't have a homecourt advantage, but rather that we really figured some things out right before our current road trip.

I'm sure that I read that home court advantage is down this year across the league, but there are still some teams who have big homecourt advantages. The Rockets, for example, are 15-6 at home and 4-13 on the road.

We are a young team overall, and for us to be so good on the road, it really speaks to the leadership and professionalism on the team. Obviously, a bunch of guys aren't going out partying and staying out late. Guys are eating and sleeping right.

It's really encouraging.

And please don’t forget, these men arrived in Dallas at 4:30 am that morning.

If the locker room is joking that Hawkins is Ray Allen then the coaching staff would look really stupid to not be making Hawkins a decent part of the rotation.

If you listened to Willie last night, you can tell that he's knows that it's time. He's absolutely made them earn it, but Hawk and Dyson need to be our primary subs in the backcourt.

As much as Jose and Naji have meant to the team, I am sure that Willie is not looking forward to telling them that their roles are getting reduced. And it's not "fair," in the sense that both Jose and Naji have improved this season, especially their shooting from deep.

But they've been Wally Pipped by the Hawk/Dyson combo.

Didn’t say he was shutting anyone down. He is a warm body that guards multiple positions, and fills a niche as a guy with a little more beef than the slender men

Also

87% of Naji’s minutes are coming at SF & PF
80% of Hawkins minutes are coming at PG and SG.

Their minutes aren’t really interchangeable. You probably need to look at whose backcourt minutes gets sacrificed. Not going to be CJ’s. Not Dyson’s if you want him to keep progressing. That leaves Jose. Will be something to watch; there has to be a tweak to accommodate Hawkins

Honestly given CJs age, keeping him closer to 30mpg as opposed to 36mpg probably would be beneficial come playoff time where we want him to play longer minutes.

This team isn’t good enough to cut CJ’s minutes. Do you want to win games? Because that is how you lose games.

Pels will win, inexplicably

This has happened so many times, it' mind-boggling.

IIRC, I wanna say for Jose's career high game last year, it was like 4 of 5 starters were out and there was no chance in hell they were supposed to win, but somehow did with ease.

And in another similar situation, iirc, I remember that leftover roster not only winning but setting a single-game Pels scoring record.

Not sure it's that cut and dry. You can move other dudes positionally without Hawkins having to take Naji minutes at the exact position Naji was playing at that moment.

So, for example, if BI is in at SG and Naji SF, those aren't minutes we can't swap Naji for Hawkins because Hawkins can't play SF. BI can shift, so Hawkins can play the 2 and BI the 3.

Also, if we’re being real 2-4 are very very interchangeable in today’s nba

Not that I’m saying we should ever play Hawk at the 4, but basketball is more positionless than it’s probably ever been

Missed from last night game in the Hawk over naji argument is that naji played a ton of minutes last night including nearly the whole first half bc of herbs foul trouble and he played really well .

Hawk was terrific and deserves credit and minutes.

We were shorthanded last night. Naji was going to play big minutes regardless. JRE got 22 minutes.

It’s never cut and dry, there are tons of lineup possibilities. Just because you can do it doesn’t mean it’s going to work.

The fact with cutting Naji out still remains - you’re losing that versatile depth that can give tough minutes vs stronger wings. It’s like Jonas and his rebounding; it’s fine if you don’t like him, and I don’t mind dumping him,but tell me the solution to replacing his rebounding. Ya don’t have another guy who can do it right now
