How do you rank fried bluecat among others ?

Had some tonight that were nicely cut up. Not too thick/big.
It’s been years. I just can’t eat em anymore.
1) sacalait
2} spec
3) spotted cat
4) perch
5) channel cat. (Small whole)
Xx) gasper goo/ bluecat.

Depends on the blue cat I reckon. I've caught some big ones that tasted fine but had a funky texture to them. Other big ones were fine all around. The ones that had funky texture were out of lakes and were chunky chodes. The others were out of the Mississippi and long and lean.
Never had a small one that I'd complain about.

After walleye and striped bass. Above crappie and channels. I only eat blues in the 10 lbs range.
When this wind dies down and the cold front passes, I can't wait to deadstick some stripers and drift for some big blues.

I like the smaller blues ok over about 5-10 lbs I don’t care for.

I think the bigger blue cats eat mostly shad and that’s what they taste like.

IMHO once they get above 2-2.5lbs I don’t want them fried. Too easy to get really good fresh farm raised filets for frying.

Walleye is the one fish I have yet to try. I agree Sacalait is the best fried that I've tried. And why Largemouth Bass doesn't get more recognition is beyond me.

I would much rather river catfish, be they yellow, channel or blue. Even the big blues out the river are excellent to me.

I catch blues up to 75-80 pounds each year here in Missouri. I never keep them when they are over 20. The smaller ones if cleaned properly taste dang good. Not as mild as Flatheads/Ops.

Yup. Ain't no belly meat on the small blues. Need them about 10 lbs.
Have you caught any big ones this year? My best so far is 65 this winter but I haven't been able to go out as much as if like.

I did a little this fall when I wasn’t hunting . Caught a few . Nothing huge. Buddy of mine doesn’t hunt and really gets after them. He caught some good ones and some big flatheads too this fall .

I eat them big blues but I won't eat them if there been skinned, it leaves that nasty silver stuff. If you fillet like you do a speck or any other fish it will be fine.

My favorite table fish. I have around 15 pounds in the freezer from a trip in December and am going to Lake Erie Saturday for more.
It is an extremely clean, white fish.
