Roadway report:

Even though I10 is closed both ways, as always, I was allowed to get on in Grosse Tete. Zero ice. Until you get to a bridge...then it's a jesus take the wheel moment.

Overpass over lobdell, absolute death trap. Even though we drive on snow and a decent amount of ice yearly, even though I have decent car control, if the electronics would have stepped in at any point, I'd have ended up wrecking. No way around it. Should be shut. Kind of is... But isn't.

I10 MRB, I will likely be one of yhe last to cross. Absolute morons trying to change lanes and tailgating. Four vehicles going over... They still tailgate. Car skidded off to nicholson because they hit their brakes at the top. Caddilac suv got a little over confident and caught the guard rail to make the right turn at the end.

Traffic backed up right past dalrymple exit. Not moving. Exited at dalrymple. Left on green... Almost tboned by idiotic dotd and city workers. They are ignoring traffic signals.

Surface streets in BR suprisingly not that icy. Hopped over to acadian, zero ice. Rejoined I10. Ice all the way to essen. No traffic has left it in poor shape.

Travel time... One hour.

Back home will take at least three.

BRPD and EBR don't seem to have the resources to shut what should be shut. Or... They are relying on closures farther away to handle 99% of it and everyone else is on their own.

If you go out in it, have your head on a swivel. With everyone ignoring traffic signals or not using the most basic bits of common sense... it's more dangerous than it needs be.

Are there really that many trucks that need to be moving at 3am? I did not know that.

If I was a trucker, I would try to only drive 9 months out the year. December, January, and February the semi would be parked and my arse would be someplace warm.

If I did have to drive those months, once temperature reaches 32, my arse would find the nearest truck stop. The dispatcher could frickoff.

Getting worse than they expected I believe

Even two DOTD trucks crashed on bridge from sliding on ice.

ETA. Make that 3 DOTD trucks have crashed out

I spun out 3 times and drove in on 4WD.

It usually takes me 5 minutes to get to work but took me 20 today.

My plant did not plan well for this shite.

National Guard maybe should be involved over there and heads should be rolling this week on whoever was in charge of planning for this.

I don’t understand why the first people to blame are public officials instead of the actual people that drove through what was always going to be a dicey time for roads.

I live right next to the Perkins Underpass. I-10 is a standstill and there must have been an accident as there is some alarm going off
