I Support DeSantis for his Border Policy and So Should any Republican

Gov. DeSantis has agreed to completely close the Southern US border and, more importantly, use the military as a full-time complement to enforce the border restrictions. This forces all immigrants to enter through select legal points of entry.
Every town is a border town now with the cartels pouring fentanyl into our country and the Chinese using the border to infiltrate our country with no telling how many of their agents to this point.
Trump was armed with the legal opinion and the support of his voting base to enforce the same, but he refused, likely because it is controversial.
We are the only modern country that does not do this. Considering the grave national security threat an open border presents, this is unfortunately the only way to guarantee security. I support this and Gov. DeSantis for being the only candidate who has proposed this.

I like RDS but he handled this campaign horribly.
He should have stayed above the fray and endorsed Trump last winter. Running against Trump and remaining friends / allies is nearly impossible.

Wasn’t there significantly less crossings under Trump, and Border Patrol didn’t need the help?

Agreed? How is he going to do that from Florida?

This ain’t about policy and competence.
This is about funny nicknames and revenge.

You do you. IF DeSantis was elected, he wouldn't/couldn't do what he says. His big money donors wouldn't allow it.

Almost everyone on here agrees with 99.999% of his platform and deep down knows he would be an incredible President.
They simply cannot get over the 2020 election and view Trump as an incumbent, and are emotionally driven by the Dem lawfare.
There's no getting around it for those people, as was calculated by the Dems. It is what it is.

You should support his border policy, but that doesn’t mean you should support the man as a candidate over another.

Saying it and doing it are two different things.

DeSantis has no comprehensive border plan. He has things like enforcing e-verify and similar stuff, which is good, and I agree. However, he does not have a comprehensive plan. He talks about 'military assets' which is non-committal lawyer talk.
I have a strategy, based on our national interests. I will actually secure the border. DeSantis won't, because he's afraid to commit the forces that it will take. People are afraid of the optics but if there was ever a mission for the military, it's to defend us against an invasion.
Cartels are smart and they have money. They are going to move to where the border defense is the softest. We only have about 20,000 Border Patrol agents that are actively on the border. You can only put about 10,000 on shift at once, if you're lucky. That's one agent for every 1100 feet of border, roughly. When DeSantis talks about military assets, I'm 100% confident he's talking about aircraft, drones, etc. This will do very little, if anything.
My plan is 500k troops to cover the entire border. Before you account for Border Patrol, my plan puts a pair of boots at every 45 feet on the border. The entire border will be locked down. Obstacles put in place. A wall built. This is a military deployment. I'm going to put the military down there, with full combat pay, tax free status etc. And I'll do the same for Border Patrol. It's an invasion and it's time we treat it like one, with full military deployment to defend this nation.
And I will ship some of these illegals to DC and put them in tent cities so Congress can live like the border residents live. And I'll use the National Guard to rip down every barrier around the Capitol. No wall for Americans at the border - no wall for Congress.
Also, I haven't seen DeSantis offer anything to incentivize self-deportation, which is essential since we have tens of millions of people here illegally. You can't round up all of them in a timely fashion. You have to incentivize self-deportation. I will do that - tax remittances, cut off all aid to illegals on day 1, stop the inflow, offer cash to those that leave voluntarily.
With a full military deployment to the border, and even spending like $50B to build factories and such at the border, for these people to work at, and subsidizing those operations at the tune of about $30B per year - we still save $50B per year as a nation, moving forward. And, our borders are respected, we lessen the threat of terrorism, provide more jobs for Americans, opportunities for US companies, and economic growth potential for the people here illegally, but only if they self-deport and then work down at the border.
I'm the only candidate with an actual strategy on this issue.
