Andretti bid rejected for 2025 and 2026.
It looks like Andretti having to be a power unit customer from someone other than GM for 2-4 seasons was a dealbreaker (#20 below).

BREAKING: F1 has rejected Andretti's bid to join the grid in 2025 or 2026, BUT says it "would look differently on an application" for 2028 alongside General Motors' planned power unit entry #F1

After an assessment period, F1 says an 11th team alone doesn't add value, it needs to be competitive. Also:
"While the Andretti name carries some recognition for F1 fans, our research indicates that F1 would bring value to the Andretti brand rather than the other way around"

With F1 growing more in the US and now having 3 races and rumors of an interest in Chicago, I would think they need to be careful with Anti-trust/monopoly laws in the US by not allowing a legitimate US team in.

Lol not to mention Red Bull’s junior team.

Seems like they based the rejection on lots of "feelings"

Point #19
Can someone explain this like I'm 5?

You can't play with us.
I figured Andretti would be allowed in, but I wonder if this puts the power supply deal with GM in any sort of uncertainty.

seems like Andretti is being penalized for not having their own PU the first few years until GM's is ready by 2028. not that i believe that, since f1 already had their mind made up before andretti even filed the application.

That's an awful lot of words to say "if you want in, you gotta give us way more than 200 million"
Everything else is bullshite

I had read a while back that Andretti might have a legal case in the EU along these lines.
quote:
It has been suggested Andretti, who's bid includes a partnership with General Motors and Cadillac, might pursue legal action if F1 blocks its entry at this stage, with some pointing to anti-competition laws which exist in the European Union.
Ben Sulyaem has dismissed the idea of it going down a legal route. "No we won't have to go to court," the president told selected media, including ESPN, ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix. "I don't think any of us want to go to court. Maybe it sounds very exciting and threatening to the media, it's like, oooh, it's very very nice to them. But it will not go to court, I am sure of that. Why should we go to court?"

Some teams in F1:
- A private equity firm that owns the shadow of Williams
- A team named after a crypto casino
- A team bought so a guy's son can have a seat
- A team owned by Gene Haas
- "Visa CashApp RB"
None as vile an insult to auto racing as a GM factory team!

People keep making poor arguments when referring to current teams. A lot of currents teams would not get in either if they applied now. It is Andretti’s fault for not being in a position to apply when anybody could get in.

No different than the crap teams in the B1G and SEC riding the gravy train.

lol. F1 rejects them because they won't compete for the podium the first year. Meanwhile, only four teams have real shots at the podium. William, AT, Haas, Alpine, AM, and Sauber have no shot at podiums race after race (AM had a shot at podiums before all of their copied homework got passed up by actual improvements of other teams).

For those looking to go to Montreal, check round trip prices from Orlando. Air Canada has round trip tickets from $262. Much cheaper than ATL ($886). I’m flying with the wife so this is x2 for me. Using Miami has similar pricing.
Tickets are now $200 roundtrip.
