To get the power split they need for the battery and electric motors, they basically will be using the ICE as a full-throttle, 100% of the time, onboard generator.

Exactly, I never understood the math here, how can the electrical motor possibly supply almost 50% of the power?

Will be odd to hear the ICE still at full throttle through low speed turns

This reminds me of something I learned recently. In 1993 Williams tested their all-conquering FW15 with a CVT transmission. Technically it was a success, the car performed better with it, but cars with CVTs sound awful (no one wants to hear a drone) and I'm glad F1 did not go in this direction.

Total rumor but...

??????Apparently today was quite the chaotic day with the release of these new regulations. I’ve been informed that each team has sent a technical representative to meet with the FiA about the release of the regulations at some point today. Apparently the released regs were never finally approved by all teams, and at least two teams are threatening to walk away from the series if they go ahead as released today. There are a LOT of angry team members across the grid.

After a bit more digging, specifically the concerns are around the active aero for the front and rear wings which will NOT be driver controlled, but triggered via control systems and software. The teams feel this is a huge risk in the event of failure. Additionally the concern is that the cost cap would prohibit the cost of replacement active aero parts as well. ??

Sounds like the FiA had a bit of an issue on their hands with this one. ??

Liberty Media is going to have to ask for ID in some states to log in to F1TV.

Let me guess. One of them is Ferrari. Where have I heard this before?

So we're going to get the exact same thing back in 09ish with Brawn and them?

Manual Override Mode to provide following cars with boost of energy

PUSH TO PASS

I’ve been saying both Nascar and F1 need to copy Indycar on this option.

But F1 will still be a train, just with more cars in it.

Interesting but reality hits home. All electric is a non starter.

Oh, that's the same article I linked to on the last page, where I pulled this quote:

quote:

Domenicali is clear that sustainable fuels will play a big part in the future of his sport. “F1 has always been seen as having the lightest and best cars, so if sustainable fuels are successful we could go back to a situation where the battery is not needed anymore,” he said.

It sounds like he is in fact talking about an electric-motor-free F1 future if e-fuels work out. I say "Go Aramco!"

It's going to be stupid.

I may take a break from F1 for four years.

Just like a snowmobile. If you have the clutches set up right (they are not called a CVT in a snowmobile but that is what the transmission setup is) they hold peak RPM at wide open throttle from the hit until you let off.

Ask him if his teammate is as big a dickhead as some think.

And if he has signed with Haas yet.

We ready to get wet?

Going to be a fun day at the track tomorrow. Turn 12/13 is going to eat a few lunches if the rain is right.

Still keeping up as much, just can't frick off as much.

In grandstand 12 (turn 1/2) this weekend if anyone is that way. We will be the Americans building Heineken towers with the locals.
