In a similar scenario, I actually will take a shite in the can myself
If you wrap it in a bag and tie it then that’s fine

Trash Can Owner: doesn't want someone else using their trash can and maybe in the summer the smell could be bad.
This would bother me 0%.

I am genuinely curious on people's opinions on this topic. I think we can all agree that leaving poop in someone's yard is a no go and should be punishable by death.
I adopted a new routine. I bring a sheet of Costco paper towel(perforated into 1/3s) in my pocket. I break off 1/3 a sheet to pick up my dog's poop(she's not that big) and then I toss it in the next gutter we pass in my neighborhood. She hasn't shite more than 3 times in one walk yet. Thank goodness.
Anyhoots. It's biodegradable paper towel and the poop isn't in my hand for the walk nor a neighbor's trashcan. Win-Win.

Gotta carry it home.

Why do I care if someone throws it in my garbage can? I am just glad they are picking it up.
As a trash can owner, this is where I fall. I'd rather it in my can than in my yard. And it definitely doesn't affect the amount of trash I can put in my can.
But my neighbor was up in arms about someone putting a bag in his can. I just don't see what the big deal is.

As long as you pick it up out of my yard, I don't mind if you put it in my trash can. After a couple of days, I probably have stuff that will smell worse anyway.

I am baffled by the people who get offended by the idea of someone dropping something into their trash can that is sitting on the street for pick up.
At the same time...
I am baffled by anyone who would consider walking onto someone's property, and assumedly next to the residence, to put something into the trash can.
UNLESS, you are the trashy MF who leaves his can at the street all the time in which case I hope they just leave the poop in your yard.

If tomorrow is trash day and the can is by the road, I'll drop the bag in while I walk the dog. Any other time I hold onto it until I get home and use my own trash can.
Obviously that’s the scenario being discussed by OP. No one would walk up their driveway and throw it away in their trash can that’s under the carport.

The mailman blocked my driveway last week when I was leaving to head back to work so I happen to catch a couple walking their full grown rottweiler and he did his thing in my yard, no big deal, but i'll be damned if these mother frickers didn't walk off from this huge pile of shite this easily 80+ pound dog layed.
I rolled down the window and asked them if they forgot something, and they had a trashbag on them to pick it up. WTF?? it seems like they were just going to leave it, which I thought was kinda trashy and this week I get a letter saying my HOA is increasing
frick I might just kick somebodys trashcan over

If the trash can is by the road I'm putting the poop bag in it.

One of my neighbors puts his can along the fence line within arms length of the sidewalk. I avoid tossing dump bags in there cause he looks like a baw that would get irrational about it but if you leave your cans out, people will toss trash in it.

It's not though. There's no guarantee that the bag is going to get tossed out when it's picked up. It's more than likely going to fall down to the bottom of the can and just sit there.

The trash can owner in question is East Baton Rouge Parish. Don't believe me? Look at the print beneath the EBR seal on the side of the can.

Only on garbage night and only with permission.
Long time ago I had a neighbor who gave people standing permission to drop the bag in his can if it was on the curb awaiting pickup.

I carry my dog’s waste until I can throw it in my own garbage can, unless I pass a public can.
Putting it in someone else’s can is trashy, IMO.

Never had this issue. Probably put 10 poop bangs a week in my can, along with however many got tossed in there on trash day

If a trash can is on the street, I’m throwing trash away in a trash can.
If someone is that upset about it, they can get over it all the same
I’m not gonna care or apologize for throwing trash away in a trash can

He's lying. The municipality owns the trashcan.
