Right. If we had the ability to warn people of the high likelihood that a drunk driver would cross all lanes of traffic and cut off everyone and run into a tanker carrying gasoline we would.

At least we can warn about the weather.

I really don't see the latter group you opine about, nor the former group joining the latter.

What I do see are a lot of administrators suspiciously quick to call a school/work closure as soon as they see orange on a map. And weather alarmists more than happy to slap some orange on a map for the attention.

It has happened like five times in the past two years and it hurts the profession's credibility with the public. There, I said it.

As someone that had the fun as a kid being in a tornado without much warning, I'll take the weather folks putting the warning out there in the case of the possibility.

If you're not willing to take that into account or take that seriously, so be it.

We do in a way, some days carry a higher likelihood of that. That’s why, ironically, some of the same people who complain about weather warnings were in the thread about the poor girl that died on NYE shitting on her grieving parents for letting her drive that night. Generally just angry people needing something to be indignant about, and likely facing some small inconvenience because of schools being out or something along those lines.

Weather Channel

Honestly just not a valuable source of information for severe weather until after it already happened.

Yep.

From what I’ve seen, NOAA, NWS, SPC, NHC, etc is filled with brilliant professionals

They chased out anyone worth paying attention to years ago and the internet and NWS is 100x better at providing relevant local weather information anyways.

The weather channel is to weather what history channel is to history at this point.

The woman who posted that is ALWAYS posting about how terrified she is of weather. It could be 99 degrees and she's gonna ask if her tires are going to melt by driving too much

LOL.
I’m not sure what’s really the worst type of weather folks, the over dramatic sky screamers like that person or the old TigahRag types who get irrationally angry that there are threads on here discussing possible severe weather.

well considering the guy's house got hit by a tornado a few years ago with his wife at home, I do not blame him.

if he doesn't sound an alarm, and something bad happens, he is blamed for not letting people know the danger.

if he does, and nothing comes of it - he is demonized for having a "knee Jerk" reaction.

personally, I appreciate what he does with informing us what could happen.

the fact that he started talking about it days ago, got me out and taking down another dead tree so it would not potentially fall on anythign important.
