re: Les Miles never had the brains or balls to clean house like Kelly just did

I’d give him a pass for 08 simply because his QB room for fricked when Perriloux got suspended. I’m with you after 09 and several times in the 20 teens

Kelly inherited Ed O’s dumpster fire , Les Miles inherited a Nick Saban NFL team .

Les inherited a national championship team. Did Kelly?

They were top 30 in scoring with a redshirt freshman QB thrust in the role too early thanks to Perrilloux
So that’s the standard now? If you don’t put up a Heisman campaign for a player in your offense you not only shake up the coaching, but you fire everyone?

No he did not, but he did have the balls to go for it on 4th down.

I wouldn't mind one of those dominant Les Miles defenses next year.

If Les Miles had missed on almost every defensive recruit and had the 100th ranked defense, this place would be full of hate. Instead Kelly fields the worst defense in modern history and had to fire the entire staff. While also replacing the OC. This is considered Ballsy? LMAO.
Some of you wait for anything to go wrong with the current staff or team and then bring up Miles or Chavis. At one point, LSu had more NFL players than the entire field. Player development, you say? Never.
Okla St had beaten OU like 15 times EVER before Les Miles took the reigns in Mighty Stillwater with his "dumbness and pathetic offense". He was 2-2. He didnt inherit a LAMBO there.
You cant control what you inherit, never count that against anyone in any gig.

Well if he did he might actually still be here

Les was a goofball, but he was a lovable one. It’s minor, but one of my favorite tidbits of that era was them painting “Have a great day” as part of the permanent design on the back of the LSU equipment truck.
I’m of the camp that if 2008 wasn’t a turnover nightmare that seemingly gave Les PTSD thanks to Perrilloux getting kicked off, we would have had the Mad Hatter for years more, and he wouldn’t have locked like he did on the super conservative offense

The entire offensive staff should have been fired in 2010? They played for a national championship the next year. Also he cleaned house a couple times on the defensive side of the ball.

People have drank the BK kool aid big time it seems. So he fired people who led this dogshit defense that was below CUSA standards, Wow! He also did nothing to guide adjustments at halftime.
Most fans of Kelly think they know so much about football and ALWAYS blame coordinators and not the Head coach for poor performance, lack of adjustments, zero coaching up. Well guess what? That’s on the Head Coach more than anyone else.

Miles never wanted anything more offensively than a strong running game, a QB who could also run, and a passing game that was super conservative and didn't turn the ball over.
So why'd he hire Crowton? His M.O. was the antithesis of everything you described.

He canned Malleveto after one season. There were no reasons to fire Chief, Joe Rob, or several others. They were good coaches.

No.
What CLM and CBK started with here were at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Totally agree with all of this. But realize, at the time, Saban was doing the same thing at Alabama and while Urban was a little more innovative with the spread, that was also a team built around defense and ball control.

Les Miles came in after the greatest college coach of all time left for the NFL.
BK came in on the heels of Coach O who left the cupboard bare.
So far BK has 1 west title and produced a Heisman winner. He already has an elite resume.

Saban left Lesticles with a stacked deck. BK came in with 45% of a full roster playing in a bowl game with a receiver at QB. The two aren't even close to the same. Thank Ed O and his midlife crisis for not giving two shits about tearing down the program.
