Do we have absolutely any evidence of that at all? Or is this one of those things that one guy said once in a message board thread and then everyone just ran with it?

If this is just a rational, clear-eyed expression of self interest by a highly talented player, why not announce for the portal and get expressions of interest at end of season, when portal first opened?
Instead it happens just before the bowl, as if to maximize pressure or maximize inconvenience to his team. Is he (his mom) making a statement out of anger/ emotion?

Just one on the entire team doing that isn't bad, considering it's also a backup

Why sit out a game when healthy? It seems a poorly charted course. He wants to hurt the program. Why? How should the program respond to the injurer? Some may say dismiss him.

The one thing I will say about Heard is that he just needs to enter the portal. If you are going to sit out of the game, then enter the portal. You don't just get to skip games while you "think about the future"

He is a talent, so hope he stays and works to become a better player. Potential means nothing unless you develop it. We've seen this movie too many times before...Gilbert and Harris just recently.
If this is an NIL issue, well, agree from many posts on Tigerdroppings, this is ruining college football.

Seriously, what message is this sending these players? Negotiate for whatever you can get, no need to be accountable for performance!

I think another poster Ponchy TIger, suggested contracts for players....at least they would then realize they have to stay and produce just like the rest of us!

Otherwise, the lesson learned by the NIL experiment, will not bode well for the future of these players.

People still think schools are paying the players lol. Y’all are so frickin dumb
Why don’t you enlighten us?

Take Perkins for instance. It was reported that he was compensated after last year to entice him to stay at LSU.

Was this fake news? If not, who brokered the new deal and who ponied up?

No. That would be pay for play. Which is not allowed.

The contacts are strictly for the use of the player’s name, image or likeness. As you said, they can’t be “pay for play” contracts (though, in effect, that’s why the contact is offered). They can’t even tie a player to a specific school. For instance, the contract can’t have a clause that it’s only in effect if the player plays for a specific school.

This is why most of the contracts are very short in their effective term. No LSU booster wants to be on the hook to pay a kid that left mid contract and now plays for Alabama. Yet, that could happen if the contact was years in length.

The only disincentive to transferring was the sit out penalty. That’s gone. The NCAA tried to at least limit the transferring by forcing 2X transfers to sit out a year. However, fans/coaches couldn’t see the forest for the trees. They wanted 2x transfers eligible immediately (see LSU fans with Jalen Cook and MANY other players). Well, those short-sighted folks got what they wanted. There is going to be no prohibition on transferring. That means countless players will be perpetually looking to “renegotiate” their deals.

Or maybe he is thinking that none of the guys that were ahead of him last year are going to be gone this season and those are some pretty damn good players. Might be he doesn’t want to sit most of this year.. Not saying I agree with it, but when you throw in the type of money that he would be getting to transfer, and the ability to start next year, that seems like something that would make sense.

Yeah, but they can have a clause that said player must report to a set of coordinates several times per week and those coordinates just happen to be LSU football ops.

Frazier is the one that was telling the FSU players how tough they were, correct? Is Heard cannot take Frazier’s position on the inside, he probably needs to walk.

These kids and these rules have ruined the college football that we knew. These kids are so fricking soft. He’s everything that is wrong with college football today. Quit on his team also.
