Does actually playing in a game for your team count?

No. That would be pay for play. Which is not allowed.

They have no NIL responsibilities.

Millions in cash are getting thrown around and you barely ever see these athletes promoting local business. They can come and go, play or sit, essentially do anything. But those are the no strings offers being made to lure them in. Other schools have to match to stay relevant. It’s the Wild West.

Don’t know why the downvotes on this. The dude is a stud and it’s unfortunate we have two first rounders at tackle already. He came to compete and he didn’t win the job.

If these kids want to get paid like adults, they should be held accountable like adults. Make them sign a contract.

The quicker the powers that be realize this and put something in place the better off College Football will be.

What could this mean? Really? To me it suggests his dissatisfaction with his current station in the program. How can this be answered if his mind is set on that which is not germane to the well-being of the program at this moment? Did he expect to have a promise made and thus forsakes the team on the eve of its final game? What mettle such a man as this!

I'll vote for any presidential candidate who vows to end college football completely.

1 year annual contracts with detailed work and academic requirements paid on a monthly basis. Fail to perform on the work and academics, you are fired and can hit the road.
We have high school kids, a vast amount are in poverty, acting like they are Patrick Mahomes.
Eliminate all 3 major sports from college and send the new professionals to farm league teams like the MLB structure. And it would be cheaper for "fans" to support minor league teams than the obscene prices we pay today.

Just taking some time off while the team plays on.

Oh excuse me. He is not getting money to play.

People still think schools are paying the players lol. Y’all are so frickin dumb

Why is this important? Whoever is paying may rightly expect a fair consideration in a contract. No?

I feel like showing he can be a swing tackle can only enhance his value in the pros. Then in ‘25 it’s your time to shine as LT. in the past that’s what you’d probably see him do but with the portal it opens up different possibilities. He’s got a decision to make.if he goes he goes.

To assume he expected anything is beside the point. He came and competed and lost the competition. He now wants to evaluate what's best for him according to new information. Anybody would do the same.

Lmao, mad he didn’t start over Campbell, who didn’t give up a sack all year.

Maybe he didn’t, but Dallas Turner beat him like a drum.

Heard came here with the explicit intention to compete with Will Campbell (a future top 10 pick) and to win that battle. That doesn’t scream looking for a handout to me.

If only there was more than 1 OL position where he could compete.
