Both. Unless money is a problem, get both on sale.

I just got Survivor and have not played it yet, but Hogwarts was probably my most favorite game of 2023.

I haven't played Survivor yet, but I watched my wife beat Hogwarts Legacy and it got very repetitive. To the point that I didn't feel the need to do a separate playthrough. They definitely nail the Harry Potter universe and the setting, but I also felt like her choices didn't matter one single bit. You could go complete death eater and the game's ending would be barely affected.

On the other hand, if you have Game Pass, Jedi Survivor will eventually hit that service whenever EA puts it on the standard version of EA Play. Given how EA has done things in the past, that will probably be late April/early May (a year after release). With my backlog, I'm just going to wait it out.

There is more going on with it, and you should give it a shot sometime.

I didn't really like Survivor, but i'm sure there's people that love that genre.

But Hogwarts Legacy is shite. Boring, redundant, feels half finished. Running around hogwarts is great until you realize it's a soulless, lifeless building, with nothing really to do.

I had the same choice to make earlier this year and I got Hogwarts instead of Survivor. If you’re a HP fan it’s a solid game and I like exploring and interacting with the world but the story never really caught my attention so I never have felt compelled to finish the game. I think I’ll check out Survivor now because I enjoyed the first one.

I haven't played Survivor...the earlier star wars games were kind of boring to me with the endless mazes and puzzles of each planet with a meh storyline (and I'm a star wars nerd) so that stopped me from playing it...I reckon I'll get it at some point once price is significantly lower.

Legacy, I bought it from the day it went on sale. I was super excited for this one...I remember playing the old Harry Potter games on either PS1 or PS2 when I was little and couldn't wait. ***Possible spoilers ahead but I'm gonna make sure not to go into any of the plot at all...more gameplay and mechanics*** The game is absolutely stunning. How complex the castle is and seeing all of the locations that pop up in the movies or books...that was awesome. However, it's not a free flowing place...the same characters standing in the same place every time you walk through each day, saying the exact same lines. That got old. Then every time you pass the floo portals, hearing the same thing every time. Solving the same 7-8 Merlin puzzles over 100 times...repetitve and boring. Once you level up, learn more spells, and figure out the combat mechanics, just walking up into the enemy camps and going 1 on 20-30 was fun, but again became boring and repetitive. Flying is fun, but it would be great if they added in a few more things to do on the side...like let me play quidditch or give more of the RPG-ish options here and there instead of being quite so scripted. All in all, I still enjoyed the game and it scratched an old itch I had for a game in that environment...but I absolutely do not thing this game reached its' full potential. This had the makings of a top tier all time game and just didn't quite live up in my opinion.

I really liked Jedi Survivor. It has a little bit of everything. Feels a bit like a soulslike, but it also feels like a Metroidvania and a Naughty Dog narrative adventure game.

Jedi Survivor is not punishingly difficult like a From Software game by any means, but Hogwarts Legacy by its very nature is a much breezier playthrough

Are you more of a Star Wars fan or a Harry Potter fan? Do you prefer range based combat or melee based combat?

Though honestly, both are worth $35.

Id say Hogwarts.

They are both good games but the map on Survivor is a frustrating experience.

i don't understand how you spend soo much time, money, and effort into creating a massive polished open world such as Hogwarts Legacy then not have any follow-up DLC, none. Are there even any plans for DLC? Seems like you'd try to squeeze as much juice out of it as possible. I guess, the same could be said for the Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor. a DLC to an existing title would take away from the next release.

i'm hoping that's the case, because I'd really like to see them use Hogwarts Legacy as a foundation for future titles allowing you to carry over your custom character and unlocks.

My concern with HL is that they are primarily trying to lay the foundation for an MMO/game as a service model. I hope I'm wrong, but discussions around quidditch make it feel likely.

Do you have game pass? Jedi will come on it in a few months if it's like every other EA titlr

And this game, unlike Star Wars, isn't as easy to just add another part to...if you have a new student attending Hogwarts, you're going to have the same basic stuff happening regardless of the time period. But like you mentioned, DLC would be so easy. Give a DLC with quidditch added into the game. Give us a true RPG game where decisions really effect story line. As it is, it doesn't matter what route you choose...you can be a young Voldemort or a squeaky clean Ravenclaw and you're still gonna do the exact same missions and come to the exact same end no matter what.

If you like Harry Potter then in all likelihood you will enjoy Hogwarts. Exploration was fun. Combat was fun but it is just an open world sandbox with lots of chores. I think the people saying it is garbage go to far just like the 10 out of 10 people go to far. It is a solid 7. Brought down by a few too many repetitive chores.

I just bought Jedi. Could be a bit bumpy. Digital Foundry said that the optimization still sucks on PC. Every review said the game was awesome but the crappy FPS due to terrible optimization kept lots of folks from recommending it.
