Is Deshaun Watson's contract the worst in sports history?

Dude stays injured and he's been meh the few games he's played. His salary next year is $63M and is still owed at least $200M. The Browns are loaded eveywhere except at QB. They could've used that money or draft capital (4 1st round picks) to get a decent QB.

Considering that most of us saw all of that coming, it's up there.

Who is dumber? Pro GMs or college athletic directors?

Every day I’m so thankful for the Browns front office gifting all of those 1st rd picks to the Texans.

On top of that Cleveland gave up 1st pound picks in 2022, 2023 and 2024, a 3rd round pick in 2023 and a 4th round pick in 2024. I remember when the Dolphins being rumored to make a similar deal. My brain would have exploded.

QB’s pay has been getting ridiculous for the service rendered or not rendered in this case.

Watson was the closest thing to a guarantee they could get. We’d probably rather have him over Derek Carr

John Koncak with the Hawks was terrible. Along with the fat 3rd baseman the Red Sox signed from Frisco.

This has little to do with the contract, but The Texans fricking the Browns on that deal ALMOST makes up for Bill O' Brien butt fricking the Texans from within. Not unlike an incestual Uncle. With a C U N T for a chin.
But, as a Texans fan, I'm completely over it of course and hold on animosity to the fricktard of a dick pimple who I wouldn't piss on if he were on fire.

With the trade capital investment, it's certainly up there. Just financially, hell, I'd put Derick Carr up there as well. Coaching in New Orleans is abysmal but if a car (pun sort of intended) has problems for several owners, I am hard pressed to assume that maybe "the right owner" isn't going to make the car good.

Or they could have just stuck with Baker for much cheaper. Baker isn't great but he's looked better than Watson has since he got to the Browns. Why Cleveland was so quick to turn their backs on the QB that brought them their first playoff win since the Browns were rebooted I'll never understand.

The worst part of
It all is that the Browns gave him that contract AFTER all his crap came out… I knew he would be washed after all that stuff.

I keep saying they set themselves up for this without having some protection clauses. Maybe the agent should also take a bit hit on pay too.

It’s without a doubt up there. All the money and so far his only major contribution was the win in Baltimore - the game he was injured. I believe Bernie Kosar said he had similar surgery, and based in his experience Watson may never be the same in his throwing motion.
Flacco is so much better than him it’s not even funny. This team is good enough elsewhere to have gotten along with above average qb play. The lack of early round picks will catch up to the Browns eventually. Luckily, the picks they have had have worked out pretty well. The young guys having to play in the secondary and OL are doing a nice job right now.
As a Browns fan I’m just gonna enjoy the rest of this season with Flacco, whatever it brings. Wish Chubb wasn’t hurt. Nobody here really likes Watson. Not everyone hates him. But everyone hates the contract.

I know injuries were a big part of it for both of them, but the Nats absolutely crippled themselves with the Strasburg and Corbin contracts.

The NY Mets still pay Bobby Bonilla a million plus every year

its that guaranteed cash, it ruins some
i remember a guy for redskins, he got big deal, lot of up front cash, and gave no fricks, got fatter, and continued to give no fricks

Kinda makes sense why Baker Mayfield was so offended when they the Browns decided to go with Watson.
