Or Jayden was lucky to have a play caller like Denbrock
Giving Jayden all the credit is bullshite. He was no where near a Heisman candidate before he got into Denbrock’s system.

How is this relevant to wanting to go home?
The difference is that CKM came home after doing all that she could do in her sport, besides win at another school. I get that it's "moving back home" for both people but CKM sought out a challenge when coming to LSU.

Denbrock is an offensive coordinator. He just had the best offense in the country and the Heisman trophy winner. That's the pinnacle of his profession. An assistant can't "win" the national championship.

I can't think of any coach that has said "I want to be a coordinator for my whole life" and leave it at that.

House’s buyout decreases in January, as does the likelihood he leaves for an NFL job once non-playoff teams have openings. There’s no reason to light close to $2 mil on fire when you can use it for something else by waiting a few weeks.
Either way, he’ll be gone soon enough.

Good for him. He's not a rock star OC he isn't worth fighting over that much for

Not in the least
Assuming you have a D with a pulse. Bama has won many games with average QB’s. Hell, LSU won (2) NC’s with good QB’s (not elite).

There aren’t many, but some guys are more than happy to just be a coordinator and not have the heat that a head coach takes. Bud Foster and Phil Parker are two good examples. I

Amazing how little people want to credit BK for Daniels’ development & success.

Hell, LSU has two recent examples. John Chavis and Steve Ensminger.

Then perhaps stick to women's basketball, as you obviously don't pay attention.

I think its funny how much of this board believes this was about money. Its like yall have never paid attention to how much lsu pays or will pay coordinators

Thank Denbrock for his contributions to LSU the last two years, and of course his role in our offense this year — it was a fun ride.
Unless he meets LSU, I wish him all the success at ND. No LSU fan should be upset at this; BK was right not to match that pay.
No hard feeling towards Denbrock but frick Notre Dame.

quote:That's what I'm saying. This isn't Lincoln Riley's offense, or Scott Frost's offense when he was Chip Kelly's OC. This isn't Josh Heupel's offense nor is it Sonny Dykes offense. This isn't Dan Mullen's or Jeff Lebby's offense. This isn't Tom Herman nor Ryan Day's offense.
Not trying to shite on Denbrock, he did a fine job here for 2 years.
But holy shite, everyone is getting caught up in the moment with this guy.
About to be 60 years old and this is the first time he's ever been seen as the "it guy".
He's a good OC. He's not great. He's never been great. He had a great season while teamed up with a Heisman QB, 2 first round WRs, and the QB whisperer Joe Sloan.
He's probably better than what they recently had, so ND should still be happy.
But if they think they're getting the type of offense we put out this year, oh buddy, it's gonna be a rude awakening for them.
There is no diverse run scheme like you see in those offenses. There is no wide array or wildly different passing schemes like you see in some of those offenses. There is no real tricks either. It's a spread, with RPO elements and, if they have the players, some 2 TE sets.
The real reason it is so effective is the amount of talent on those teams against the level of talent they face. The Cincinnati Bearcats, as a team, sent 12 players to the draft the last two years with 9 of them coming after the playoff team year (Denbrock's last season there). Of those 12 players, SIX of them were skill players on offense. From his 2021 unit 3 starting WRs were drafting in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. Their starting TE and RB were drafted in the 5th round. Their starting QB was drafted in the 3r round. They were 11th in scoring, but only 59th in total offense (aka yards), that tells me that their defense and special teams gave them short fields and they were able to capitalize. That Cincinnati defense was something else even holding Bama to 27 and holding heisman Bryce Young under 200 yards and 6.5 ypa.
The other Denbrock coordinator season came in 2014 at Notre Dame. They were 40th in scoring and 34th in total offense. They had 2 NFL guys in Prosise and Will Fuller, and a decent QB in Golson, whose problem was being a turnover machine. IMO, the only difference from what they had in 2013 and 2014 was that the QB Golson was more accurate than Tommy Rees.
Unless they have elite talent there, it won't be the same. Maybe it's my biases, but I don't see them coming anywhere close to the talent LSU has on a yearly basis on offense

quote:Again, I like Denbrock, but only a fool thinks Denbrock's play calling is the reason for Daniels success. All involved put together a gameplan for his development and he took the extra insane initiative to get better. Actually read and listen to what they said Daniels did to improve. Only the best of the best have that type of determination to get better. That is nowhere near normal. Denbrock has never been a QB coach, that was Sloan's doing, and Daniels and Nuss have always credit Sloan mostly.

Go back and actually watch those games and tell me if you see some amazing play calling? The vast majority of Daniels rushing was scrambling. When Diggs started to wear down and went down, our run game would have went to shite, but Daniels started going off weekly.
They damn near ran the same corner fade route for 3 straight TD passes vs TAMU using a different WR. Our WRs were wide open almost all the time because of their elite talent.
We can give him credit without going overboard.

He was set to make 1.8 per year on his new deal. Notre Dame upped the ante to 4yrs for 9 mil. So either Denbrock wanted to move closer to his home and family or CBK didn’t push Woodard to match it. 2.25 million per year for an OC who some doubt as the reason behind 2023’s offensive historic numbers is a lot of money to match.
So Notre Dame, looking from the outside, thought Denbrock was worth over $2 mil a year.
His former employers didn't.
Interesting.

There's plenty of credit to go around on Daniels' development.
But most of that credit belongs to Daniels himself.

There are some. They are solid at their jobs, have great job security, get paid well, and don't want the heat that comes with being a HC.
Honestly, as I type it out, I think I'd prefer it too
Bud Foster is one that comes to mind. He turned down head coaching jobs seemingly every year.

An assistant can't "win" the national championship.
All put together by Coach Orgeron.
