Rapoport video from NFL Network on Twitter/X, from this morning

LINK

"This is the time of year where everyone talks about Job Status. My understanding is that Dennis Allen is in a good spot. Obviously if it goes horrific at the end of the year, it's subject to change, but that is where it stands now.

One of the reasons is that they aren't getting out of where they are. They have Derek Carr who is fully guaranteed for next year, plus a roster that is getting a little older and slower, getting expensive, not as twitchy as you'd like. If they're going to rebuild - that's something you'd do with a new coach, but they can't do that next year anyway so it does not seem prime time for a reboot"

He was always going to survive this year if we won at least 7 games. Firing him does not improve the organization next year. A new coach (or even a new GM) would be severely handcuffed next year with the contracts we have on the books.

He'll absolutely be fired next year if we don't make the playoffs.

Unfortunately this dumb frick Derek Carr is too good to go 0-17 or even 2-15.

As long as he is here, it will still be hell. 6 to 8 win seasons and more drafting 17 versus drafting top 5.

So hypothetically we will keep being arse and not having high draft picks.

Unfortunately I think Rap is correct except I don’t think anything will get Allen canned this season. Things have already been horrific. The best we can hope for is they move on from Carmichael and whoever the o-line coach is. Who even knows if they’ll do that?

Eff it, run it back but no new high dollar contracts. Let this shite play out and run out the clock on the salary cap hell. 3-4 years of seasons like the current one then rebuild it all.

How in the frick could he have been in a “good spot” at any point this season?

Saving myself the money with Sunday Ticket next season if this is the case.

We are already there. Firing him this morning to avoid a chance at making the decision tougher if they win the next two weeks would be the better move

How embarrassing is this. He gets job security because Loomis and company screwed the roster up so much with bad trades, bad drafts, and bad signings that we have no choice but to keep a coach that has not had a winning season in half a decade.

Frick that, Loomis should go along with Allen for creating this mess.

Not ripping off the bandaid is what got them into this mess and if they continue to wait for the perfect moment, they waste more time and resources.

If he is not your coach of the future, fire him now and move on. Let a new coach come in with the understanding that this is a rebuild and he will be given time to h build the team as he and the new GM see fit.

As long as either Mickey or Allen are there, this team is going no where.

If Dennis Allen is kept as HC after no Division Title after the end of week 17 there is going to be an insane amount of outrage from the media & fanbase. I can't wait to see how many season ticket holders do not renew if this happens.

Vomit. The dome will be empty next year as it should.
