re: Would you refuse to speak to your adult kids if they changed their religious beliefs?

I would do whatever Andrew Tate thinks is best in that situation. Also, wouldn’t mind hearing what Elon Musk thinks.

Matthew 5:43-48 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Basically love all people regardless what they think or believe.

I'd have a very tough time with it, but I can't imagine disowning my own flesh and blood after nurturing them and trying to guide them their entire life. I'll always love my children and be very involved and help them along their journey
Part of me would feel like a failure though. Being a Christian is incredibly important to me and I won't ever shy away or back down from that. I hope it's a bridge I never have to cross.

I have a relationship with Jesus Christ that I would hope is self evident in how I raise my kids.
Every night I say scriptures with them before bed. We pray together. My kids are 11 months and 2 years.
They will be raised to know the Lord and they've been dedicated to Him and his will.
I cannot force my kids to follow the Lord. Many Christian brothers and sisters have watched their kids stray.
It would bother me and keep me restless at nights if they turned their backs on Jesus.
But that'd make me just want to love them more. To show them He is real. He still loves them. And He will always be there for them.

We don’t have any religious beliefs, so we don’t deal with any superficial drama like that

I couldn't do that. You're supposed to love your kids unconditionally. This ain't that.
I am with you. God is their judge. I would express my opinion and pray for them, but most of all I would let them know I love them unconditionally. Even if I had less contact for some reason(like a serious drug problem), I would leave the door open for contact down the road.

Exactly.
There is literally zero biblical support for this and plenty of support to do the opposite.

Typical religious hypocrites. Religion is a cancer on the human race. It keeps you in spiritual bondage.
Amazing how you can't see what secularist values have done to our society. Yeah, there are some painful and destructive elements of Abrahamic religion, some more than others (like Islam), but like most anti-religious and irreligious you routinely fail to recognize how much those religions, most especially Christianity, developed all of the western world.
Atheists and secularists have yet to develop a single philosophical framework that people can follow that promotes community and sacrifice.
The most notable element of secularism and atheism is its cultivation of material worth (love of money and eugenics) over all (because there's no such thing as spiritual).

Of all the bullshite I’ve dealt with with my kids, their religion would be the least of my worries. Unless it was the religion of peace, but hopefully they won’t ever spend time in prison.

Christianity frees you from bondage. You think you are free but you are a slave to your personal desires which ultimately cannot produce long term happiness. True freedom is the ability to kill our ego which enslaves us all.

Wow...it's sad that you would do that. It's also disturbing that you lumped these belief systems together. They are two very different belief sets.
Do you feel that being a satanist is similar or "just as bad" as being an atheist?

No.
God gave us free will. They're grown. Let em make their decision.

Imagine an adult making their own decisions in life!
If you're that parent, you're the problem!
I wonder how many of those same parent would cut them off or "disown" them for committing crimes?

So you don't talk to, work with, post on message boards with , or have any association whatsoever with anyone who isn't your religion?

How can I save them if I don't speak to them?
Posted on 12/14/23 at 12:28 pm to Billy Blanks
In-laws probably wouldnt disown us if they knew our beliefs but just to be safe we lie to them.

You should never feel that way. Our responsibility first and foremost is to love the Lord our God with all of our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind. As commanded by Jesus Himself in Matthew 22:37.
Our children have the same free will as we have as painful as it may be it's not your failure.

Were the people who are adamantly saying their religion is the only correct one born into that religion?
I would and have completely respect my children for researching and choosing what they feel is correct for them/their family.
