Yeah, Elon said that "the Convergence" will be here in 2030, such being the ability to meld AI with the Human brain. All aspects of the human body not far behind that, creating a 'Superhuman' species. That new group of 'Humans' will be and look at normal/traditional humans as vastly inferior in a Worldly sense, and they will be correct. Spiritually, who knows. But we have our justifiable suspicions.
Elon said that it would "be heaven" for those who embrace this potential. But he didn't way whether or not he would take the leap. Count me out for what that is worth.

So I would get to permanently be 43? Nah…

Yep, M...if one lives in 'the Matrix' it'll be whatever one desires. With a few exceptions via the Matrix Masters, for your own good of course.
Read "The Transhumanist Wager" if you think this is fantasy. The true believers who aspire to immortality and virtually unlimited perceptive ability are dead serious and won't be stopped by 'religious fanatics'.

A loving couple, no doubt.

What would you do if it had any issues?

I DV this.
GF daughter - no pics- has been trying for 2 yrs and is in the in vitro process. Got 4 eggs . First did not take. It's a very traumatic and stressful experience. Also, they believe each is a life so they will try with each.

Yeah, kill the average/mediocre babies. Not eugenics at all.

That’s the strange thing. Sperm quality and count is apparently through the roof and the female has no anatomical issues. Something is just not taking. Genetic tests also came back fine.
This is going to sound like Google Dr but has she been checked for endometriosis? We went through several rounds of the turkey baster before they found that she had severe endometriosis. Once they cleaned that out, the IVF worked. None of the methods wouldve worked without a uterus overhaul.
People dont understand the emotional toll this takes on couples that want kids.

I’m not an IVF baby but I know a few people that have been dying for children and infertility has been plaguing them. There’s clearly “something in the water” causing these huge infertility rates. Point is, maybe don’t shite talk these people and their children. Using science to do God’s work and help populate the world takes an emotional and financial commitment.
The problem is simple, birth control and delaying pregnancy to later ages.
People demand they get to have their fun and date around and they get married late and come off birth control only to discover getting pregnant is difficult.
The Jaffe memo was perfectly correct. Women going to college and pursuing careers at least parallel to pursuing marriage/family came at the cost of marriage/family.
This doesn't even include our secular society which celebrates broken families and celebrates and deifies people who have alternative arrangements.
People who sleep around with thousands of people are heralded. As long as they're attractive and rich they get a free pass for anything and everything.

This is a good chunk of it but there are other issues that can be in play too.
I know I certainly stopped fricking around in the dating pool as I got older and realized my chances of finding someone who would be able to have a kid were decreasing if I didn’t find a solid relationship.

Future conversations are going to be weird when a kid realizes he has a 10 inch dong because his mom paid the upcharge fee at the designer baby clinic.

Yeah and it helped her for the first kid but nothing took the second time.

Our current situation is hurling towards an unholy union of Brave New World and 1984.
It’s terrifying.

It seems like it’s usually a sperm count issue or problem with the woman’s anatomy.
Conceiving after 30 gets exponentially harder. But I did talk to a doctor a few months back that said that he had noticed a decrease in testosterone levels from the beginning of his career in the 90's to now. And some exogenous insult that is effectively universal would have to be the cause.

You do know that plenty of “normal” people use surrogacy, right? It’s not anything totally new or unusual.

No, it is a miracle of science.
quote:
My wife and I know a couple who went through the process and "disposed" of 6 other embryos.
This shows a complete lack of the process. Some embryo's are never going to develop. In the natural process most women don't even know they lose an early pregnancy or the embryo never implants. Does a woman "dispose" of eggs during every ovulation that doesn't result in a pregnancy?
quote:
We could not live with that on our conscience.
How do you get up and down off that high horse? You should be thanking God that you were able to have children naturally instead of looking down on others.
quote:
If we could not have children of our own for one reason or another, we would 100% adopt. In facf, we've debated adopting anyway, even after having our daughter.
Awesome, good for you. Do you feel better at night because you "debated" it? In the end you didn't do it. You don't get to cast judgement on other people's attempts to bring a child into the world.
There are women out in the world that are purposefully aborting their babies, but you are going to tell the people that have the money and such desire to have a child that they will subject themselves to the emotional roller coaster that is IVF? Maybe you really need to look at your life.
This is not related to the original post, there are a whole bunch of issues with that scenario, but to condemn IVF without the experience makes you a complete a-hole.

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is an elective procedure in IVF that merely tests to see if there are any chromosomal abnormalities. Many people with genetic mutations or older women usually elect for this. You can find out gender but that’s the extent of it. You’re not picking eye color, height etc. That is against the ethical code. Could it come in the future? I don’t know.
It’s a great resource for someone who has recurrent miscarriages to be able to not transfer abnormal chromosomal embryos.
As far as transferring the best embryo… you are given a “grade” by the doctor of each embryo. High grades doesn’t mean successful pregnancy and low grades don’t necessarily mean a failed transfer, but the grades help determine the success of viable pregnancy. Of course you’d transfer your highest graded embryo first—You want the best chance of pregnancy. If you do testing, you will know the gender of each embryo. To my wife and I, it didn’t seem right. So we told them to pick the best grades embryo to implant and not tell us the gender.
People aren’t picking their embryos because they’ll be a future college athlete. Not yet anyway.

And that’s completely ignoring the fact that he has openly admitted to being a pedo and looking up CP. Now he has two babies of his own. Great.
