It's not like they analyze the embryos for hair color, facial structure, height, IQ. My daughter was born from IVF. They start with the most "robust" embryos first because they have the greatest chance of success. In my daughter's case, she was the last little embryo that could. This article reeks of tabloid trash

It's a common practice for pet dogs, and a whole host of farm animals. Seems like a gray area for all of the above. As a pure-bread dog owner, it's a subject I'm not totally comfortable with. But in human nature, we often choose our mates to speculate on what we see as our offspring, so perhaps not unnatural in all cases. Slippery slope. Doesn't look any nicer when it's two gay dudes making the call, but hell, I'm a bit conflicted here.

I’m not an IVF baby but I know a few people that have been dying for children and infertility has been plaguing them. There’s clearly “something in the water” causing these huge infertility rates. Point is, maybe don’t shite talk these people and their children. Using science to do God’s work and help populate the world takes an emotional and financial commitment.

I have a good friend that went through this as well so I’m sympathetic to couples that can’t have children naturally. It seems like it’s usually a sperm count issue or problem with the woman’s anatomy.
However, it does make you wonder that maybe this is being caused by one or the other having some genetic issue that is being selected to not move forward or the two of them being biologically incompatible in some way we don’t know.
Coincidentally, the couple above teenage son is dealing with heart issues that they’re currently treating. Great folks so it’s tough to see them go through this.

It's sad because this technology could be used for good to screen for diseases but it'll be used for superficial things like eye and hair color.

That’s the strange thing. Sperm quality and count is apparently through the roof and the female has no anatomical issues. Something is just not taking. Genetic tests also came back fine.

That sucks, if I were male having to do Ivf I’d be worried about human error and them using the wrong sperm. Oops, grabbed bob’s instead of bill’s.

It makes you wonder if we’re using science to bypass some unknown biological function to block reproduction for a reason we don’t understand. It does suck though to see irresponsible people that reproduce like rabbits while other good, solid loving couples have to go through IVF because they can’t.

Yes, my initial post was probably poorly worded... the act of IVF is just a procedure. But it virtually always comes at the cost of conceiving viable embryos and then discsrding them like they are trash.
