Who guards LeBron, Ruffles and potentially Giannis?

Jonas cant guard Street Clothes. He's too quick. Zion is too short and slow too.

I also don't want Herb on LeBron because I'm worried about the refs. Probably see a ton of Naji on LeBron tonight.

Does it make sense to "let" LeBron and AD get theirs and have Herb humiliate Russell? He killed us last time. If we shut down Russell and Reeves we probably win.

Dyson could guard LeBron for some stretches.

Could be a Zeller game. He can probably do a decent job on Davis. Or maybe better we just go small and try to run their brittle assess out the gym.

This is a Zion game. Vanderbilt and Reeves will shut down BI.

If we advance, I have no idea who guards Giannis. We have no one to play him imo. Nance would be the guy but he's out and probably couldn't this year anyway. Trey I guess is the best option but that could get ugly.

Halliburton seems like a much smarter player than guys like Fox so it will be interesting to see for sure.

Trey played over 30 mins against Sac.

Knowing Willie, Bron will see a healthy dose of Herb, Trey, and Naji.

It will be interesting to see if Trey will spend any time guarding AD.

This is the match up where not having Nance hurts. He would be our match up on AD

Normally yes but this year's Nance can't guard anyone. So it may be a blessing g to force willie small

This is definitely going to be one of those “have to win by a dozen to win by one” kind of games.

I think Herb starts on LeBron, but if he gets into early foul trouble, maybe switch to Dyson there. Herb's offense coming along makes him much more playable with another defensive minded player like Dyson.

Starters Tuesday were:

PG- Russel
SG- Prince
SF- Reddish
PF- Lebron
C- Twinkie

Ignore the position labels. My guess is Jonas would start on AD, if for no other reason than expected court location of AD being closer to the goal. So we’re really asking do you go Herb, Zion or Bi on Lebron. None of which would we want to get in foul trouble. I would be tempted to use Bi and his length on Lebron, with a lot of helping and Herb free lancing. I think Herb as a safety is more effective here, and I don’t trust Zion staying in front.

The game is going to be decided by foul trouble. If JV and Zion attack Davis and get him in foul trouble early, we'll win. If JV or Herb gets two quick fouls in the 1st quarter, we'll lose.

Lebron is going to get his, regardless. It’s reality. We cant let
the other Fakers have a career night. Matchups will matter.

Just as interesting as how we guard them is how they guard us. Zion has had success with Lebron as his primary defender. Zion should attack Lebron relentlessly if that is how they choose to go. I don't think Reddish or Vanderbilt are great options for the Lakers vs. Zion either. Will they stay small with both Zion and JV on the court?

I like the idea of BI on lebron. I think the main thing to avoid is Herb getting 2 fouls in the 1st quarter and coming out of the game. He's too valuable on defense and we will need him down the stretch

Also, no need to worry about giannis. pacers by 15 tonight and then dyson will lock up haliburton

Am I losing my mind or didn't they start Jonas on LeBron once? Or was that Giannis?

I want Jonas beating on AD from the jump. He will tap out.

We gotta get out in transition early and often. When we are in the half court, I think we need to run the offense through JV.

ETA: Totally agree that we should sag off of AD. Woudl also like for Herb to start on DLo for two reasons, (1) don't want him picking up quick fouls on Bron, and (2) would be nice to keep the clamps on DLo for a bit. Once he is frustrated by Herb I think we are good.

Davis is only shooting 27% from 3 this season. If he's outside the paint, JV should ignore him and let him shoot if he wants. As long as JV stays disciplined, I think he'll be fine on Davis.

LeBron is obviously a tough matchup for anyone. My guess is that a mix of Herb, Dyson, Trey, and Naji will be on LeBron tonight.

As far as them guarding us, I think that Vanderbilt has had some success on Zion in the past, so I think we'll see a lot of that.
