Hospitals are basically Walmart. They’re run by a bunch of corporate asshats that have zero clinical experience. All that matters is the bottom line. They will continue to squeeze every penny out of the employees, increase patient load, and not allow overtime. I’ll never work for a hospital again.

The way to go would be to work at one of those private clinics like a Low T clinic or ketamine clinic that prescribe out-of-pocket medications. I’m sure they probably pay way better than any corporate hospital

If a hospital company is raking in $20 billion a year, they should be able to afford to pay their nurses at least $120,000 a year

What if it only makes 1 billion?

’ve been a nurse for 20 years. Yes, competent nurses need better pay, but it isn’t going to ever happen. Hospitals are basically Walmart. They’re run by a bunch of corporate asshats that have zero clinical experience. All that matters is the bottom line. I still have nightmares about my time on telemetry/ICU overflow. 6-7 patients, some with things like epidurals, blood transfusions, and insulin drips. They had me precepting when i hadn’t been out of school 6 months because there wasn’t anyone more experienced to do it. Talk about the blind leading the blind.

No they don’t. I work at an outpatient surgery center. They pay less but I don’t take call anymore or work holidays. I work a quick 3 12 hour shifts and enjoy my life the rest of the week. These surgery centers and clinics are all selling out to big corporate umbrella companies. The same will happen there.

So I guess it’s either travel nursing, NP, or CRNA if you actually want to make money. I mean those aren’t bad options at all

Nurses should be paid almost as much as doctors since they do 95% of the medical work anyways. Especially since they selflessly and heroically put their lives on the line in 2020-2021 to battle the deadliest plague since the medieval times

It seems to ebb and flow.

One day they don't have enough, the next day places are laying off.

They don't get paid enough and it seems job security isn't a thing.

Institutions that pay below-market are going to struggle with retention.

Nope. But I have relatives who are nurses and constantly complain about how little they get paid and how they get treated like shite by hospitals.

What’s happening in 2025? Don’t tell me they’re making it harder to become a nurse practitioner now.

Doctorate of Nurse Practicioner is a bullshite scam degree that squeezes more tuition money out of students. Unless you’re going into academia or teaching, it’s completely useless. frick that.

Employers only care about the license and ability to prescribe.

If Americans would stop being obese slobs we wouldn't need as many nurses.

Same with plumbers, electricians, steel erectors, teachers, etc... Again, everyone feels like they get treated like shite and deserve more pay.
