Folks rave about using Rice Bran to attract deer. Am I the only one who has had absolutely no luck with it?
This is in North/Central MS (Grenada County).
Are folks adding anything to it to attract deer.
Or are you just pouring it on the ground?

I've had some years when they loved it and others when it would rot on the ground. I haven't bought any this year because of that.
I always wondered if I was getting a bad batch or what. I even tasted it and it tasted the same everytime.

You may need to dump some corn all around it and on top of it. Thats what I did the very first time I started using it and they were not touching it

Everywhere I've ever put it they eat it all right away. Even if it rains on it they'll just eat it to the dirt.

Y'all using the peanut flavored?

I usually pour a bag out by my corn, they will walk through the corn to get the rice bran.

I had to quit putting it out. Way to many hogs getting to it.

My first time using a lot of it this year. Bucks are killing it. Was getting pics everyday until my camera shite the bed. FYI I’m in Woodville

I've never had a place they wouldn't eat it. I quit putting it out after bow season bc they were eating 75 lbs that I put out in 2 days and that was just if it was deer. If hogs showed up it was gone in a night. I've never used the flavored stuff bc I don't want them eating it any faster than they already do. I miss bringing it back from east Texas around the year 2000 when no one in Louisiana was really using this stuff and I was paying $2.50 for 50 lbs of it.

I have had good luck with the peanut butter flavored or whatever. But if it gets rained on... Only hogs will touch it. St. Helena Parish

Try a flavored rice bran. I use persimmon rice bran and the deer will eat it down to the dirt in a few days. I just pour it on the ground in a few different piles.

Make/get yourself a covered trough feeder; keeps it out of rain (prevents mold spores) and most hogs won’t mess with it in trough.
Does love it when they’re pregnant and keep coming back as they’re milking fawns.

Was the opposite for us. At one point we had to quit using corn and go strictly to rice bran. The hogs didn't touch it then

I go through a couple bags a week. They love it over here in Iberville parish.

Ive seen some places that just are not attracted to it like other places. Try Mobucks and buck robbers, something else. The place I had that rice bran did not do good, buckrobbers was smashed.

Ive not used it in a few years since the deer I hunt (SW AR) have shown no interest in it. I think I'll pick up a bag and put some out this weekend.

A couple people in my lease use this. They get good pics all the time. But they never seem to kill anything.

because the deer can lay low during the day and eat all they want at night

We had success hunting over it in SE Arkansas. Always wanted to get the bran that hadn't gone through the oil extraction process.
I don't know about flavored versions. Our deer just wanted the fat still in the bran.
If the weather was good for a couple days in a row, we'd pour it out on the ground and the aroma of the bran would help attract deer. Didn't use the pellet version just the full-fat powder.
