16 Teams, no conference title games, no auto bids.

12 team is so dumb. That's best way to solve it. You don't need the conference title games anymore. It's skews perception, and have now become totally pointless. Washington / Texas / UGA / FSU / Michigan earned conference titles in the regular season. 16 team playoff , 1st 2 rounds on campus. Final four bowl games. based on last weeks CFP rankings. Everything ultimately takes care of itself. And we get a bunch of awesome guys. Settle is ALL on the field. SEC will always have 5-6 bids. Best teams playing the best teams.

Why? If Iowa had beaten Michigan should they have gotten in?
Conference title games unjustly reward / punish you not if you win or lose, but what the perception is. It's not about being a champion. It's who you think has the better team.
Best way to do that, is take 16, most of those teams would be 1 or 2 losses. A few with 3

P5 conf champs and 1 at large is all you need. The system is wrong so no matter how many teams you add it’s going to be corrupt.

I mean if it comes to them having their own playoffs so be it but as long as they don’t I think you should include the best team. Look what Tulane did last season to USC

12 is perfect it keeps the regular season important. One loss can drop you from a first round bye to instead having to play away in the snow.
You don’t want to see people resting starters during rivalry week to protect them for the playoff

Doesn’t work then you could have a 8-4 Pitt team make the playoff but leave out a 10 or 11 win SEC team.

But did OP explain how we’re ranking the 16 (which I agree with Slo is way too many and gross).
Whatever the system, we need to take as much power from flawed human beings who think they know who’s “best” as possible. Keep it as objective as possible.
