Which other schools have no definitive primary rival, other than LSU?

LSU has some heated rivalries but Tiger fans are often split if you ask the primary rival. And no one in the SEC would say LSU is their definitive primary.

Tulane would be the answer decades ago but no more.

Maybe ND is the closest other example? But USC is a pretty common answer. Penn St.? They don’t seem to play Pitt much anymore.

Hawaii is excluded, for obvious reasons.

Trying to make LSU vs ATM the rivalry was pretty dumb. I'd still have LSU vs Arkansas as the rivalry even though it's not nearly as interesting as LSU vs Bama. Arkansas being a turd most of the time doesn't help but it's still some bragging rights.

Yeah, we are all super jealous of banging rivalries like Vandy/Tennessee. We had a similar tradition with Tulane but we ended it because they sucked and it wasn’t competitive.

Playing Bama to the West every year is nothing compared to an annual in state rivalry.

UL Cajun, LaTech, and Tulane keep rotating for 2nd strongest team in the state. I wish one would take the reins and hold it.

How does (or did) Texas look at A&M in terms of a rival? I know A&M is still obsessed with the Longhorns. But does Texas just look at Oklahoma as their rival?

Air Force is an "odd team out"

Boston College

West Virginia

Rutgers (they might claim Penn State)

Some Florida schools.

Maybe UGA? Their fans seem to be split between GT, Florida, and Auburn. They're kind of in the same boat as LSU in that their in-state rival left the SEC a long time ago and no longer the program they once were, although UGA and GT still play every year and at least GT is still in a major conference. I saw some UGA fans saying that there have been some rumblings about ending the annual series with them but I'm not sure how credible those rumors are.

Curious why? We've only played them 12 times since 1971.

If you look at ND these are the schools they have played the most.

I would say Texas Tech and Baylor, the simple solution is they be each other’s biggest rival but I think they both hate Texas and A&M more.

TCU could also be Baylor or SMU.

The whole state is kind of weird, Texas’ biggest rival is out of state (OU) and then it seems like every school hates someone else more than they are hated by a school

TAMU's rival is Texas. Texas' rival is OU. It's pretty clear there.

If you're talking about schools where their biggest rival doesn't also consider them their biggest rival

Arkansas (don't really have a primary rival)
Tennessee (Alabama's primary rival is Auburn)
Georgia (Auburn/FL have instate rivals that are bigger deals)
Texas A&M (Texas' primary rival is Oklahoma)
Vandy (Tennessee's primary rival is Alabama)
Missouri (they don't even play their rival anymore)

That's just the SEC

Miami....since Florida and Florida State would claim each other

Are Mizzou and Kansas still claiming each other as primary rivals since the Border War has been on hiatus since Mizzou joined the SEC? If Kansas-Mizzou still claim each other, then who is K-State's rival?

Duke. Pretty sure UNC and NC State consider each other as primary rivals for football. UNC would claim Duke though for basketball.

Air Force. Army-Navy game gets all the hype. Maybe Space Force will have their own service academy someday to be AF's rivalry

Syracuse doesn't really have a primary rival. It used to be Georgetown and then UConn back in the Big East basketball days but those days are gone. In football, we have rivalries with Boston College, Pitt, and West Virginia but none of those seem that virulent to me. The Orange have no in-state rivals, which definitely helps when you need a team to hate.
