not even when we had an undefeated national championship team that is now known as the best team to ever do it.
Several games were full that year. Florida and A&M crowds were epic.

I went to the Florida game a couple weeks again and the stadium was practically empty after half time!
It wasn’t full, but don’t exaggerate.

Tiger Band plays between every down when the Tigers are on offense, when the defense makes a stop, when the opposing offense gets in the red zone, and during pretty much every time out. In short, Tiger Band plays a lot more now than they did when I was in on the Tuba line in the 80s. Whatever the problems someone may have with the Tiger Stadium atmosphere, it isn't because Tiger Band doesn't play enough.
All of this. Anyone who complains about how little the band plays has no clue.

LSU can do what Bama does for the student section where during the 4th quarter they show a QR code they can scan to get points. The more points they have the higher priority they have when it comes to getting tickets to any sporting event.
I remember suggesting some kind of reward system like this a few years ago and I got absolutely annihilated. This is a good idea.

It's a shadow of what it used to be, and currently I don't think it's top 10. I'd put Penn State firmly ahead of it.
There are a lot of factors involved, but it boils down to a few essential elements:
1) traffic and infrastructure. I think 80K in the 80's was the ideal size, roads were better, you could get in and park a lot closer, and traffic wasn't as bad. Tiger Stadium is not in a location that can support 100k for traffic, and you just can NOT fix that.
2) fans being "entitled", as such. I honestly think that goes back to point 1- when the stadium grew and they pushed parking so far away, the headaches involved multiplied exponentially. You could tolerate that when you're annually playing for the conference and national titles, but remove that and it becomes too much.
3) advances in technology. Until a couple decades ago, if you didn't go to the game your best option was listening on the radio; and then it became spending $35-40 (probably $100 in today's money) on Tigervision, on a 24" color TV.
Nowadays, every game is broadcast in HD, most people have desktops with monitors bigger than those TVs, and you can get a 50" 4k TV at Walmart for $200 (which you would have anyway to watch all your streaming services).
I remember going to a few games in the past, when I had to work until 5 or 6pm on Saturdays. I literally threw a change of clothes in the car, left work, parked out in the boonies (*what is probably normal parking today), and walked into the gate before halftime. It might have cost $5-10 for a ticket, if I didn't already have one.
You just can't do that stuff now, it ain't worth the cost and effort.

Is Death Valley dead?

Solving the seemingly impossible traffic issue would help greatly. I have never been to any sporting even with that much traffic

Lots of comments valid about the food..traffic heat etc.. but you guys always complain about the corporate and blue hairs..
I sit on home side by students.. last game I noticed after half time there were at best a few hundred student remaining.. the home lower side was still full …. the end zones opposite of students still full..blue hairs paying premium prices….
Upper sections visitor was side never full and lower emptied early.. student section never even filled up!!!
Stadium club and lower section of home side started gettin thin after third quarter..
I could count the number of students left at the end of the games on one hand..
Lots of contributing factors…

My friend who goes to bama told me that it works and no one leaves the student section until they show the code

Band went to shite when it moved to the Music department. Piped in crap is generic or horrendous (Louisiana song).
Empty seats due to price.
Concessions are garbage.
Huge TVs and 4k video is cheap. Couches are comfortable.

Students have been getting squeezed for some time now. They now track student donations just like TAF points. You have to join a club to increase your chances of getting tickets and then you're given 1/2 season options (4 game package).
When did that start??
I was at LSU from '56-'60 and the student section was started at least on the 20 yd line. there was never a spare seat in there. Stadium was packed every game to my recollection.

haven't had a big game at home like that this year
It's odd that all our games so far against winning football teams -- FSU, Ole Miss, Missouri and Bama -- were on the road. We had a chance to change the dynamic this year on Saturday, but... Aggies are a morning game!

For stating absolute facts that half the LSU fans on here refuse to recognize? Lol
Posted on 11/21/23 at 4:08 pm to Oopsmyhammer
It absolutely is dead. Fans are entitled and spoiled.
Only way to bring it back would be for the program to fall off a cliff and be a bottom dweller for a decade.
Total reset then fans might actually appreciate what they have

Lots of people complaining about the cost of tickets. I sit in the east upper deck. Say all you want about it but it’s affordable and the view is incredible!

No it wasn’t.
When did this exaggeration start on here? Y’all sound like some teenage girls.

Exactly.. people are complaining about the prices but won’t sit in the upper decks. They want sideline seats for nothing. Unfortunately, this is the cost of running a high level football program in a pay for play era. Ticket prices will be expensive, not everyone can afford. The AD has to pay these guys a ton of money to step on the field. Ticket prices will continue to increase to pay for the rising costs of players. The system is truly broken in college
