It looks like you definitely know who we are because there are not many pallet boat launches along the bayou. lol
Thanks to everyone else who understands that this was not just a boat but a boat that a 17 year old busted his butt redoing because his grandfather gave it to him

Start checking boat launches in the area. Hell as dumb as some people are, might even show up on FB or the gram.

Hey son, I don’t know who you are telling to frick off. I just made the comment that it could have been worse. Also highly preventable, keep a damn lock on your trailer and this doesn’t happen. Everyone of my trailers has a lock on it. So you can frick off.

Locks can be removed in no time at all. Battery angle grinders will make short work of any lock you can put on there. Locks are just for honest thieves and to make yourself feel better.

This is so true. We’ve been cutting 12” and 18” S160 chrome pipe around the clock for better part of a week now. Those chicken shite locks aren’t going to do anything but slow them down a minute or so.

Since you have returned to further prove to everyone on here how much of a dipshit you are….
We need to remember the magic device that is an Apple Air Tag.
Locks don’t stop shite, but when an Air Tag is glued to a boat, trailer, etc. you can go right up to it if stolen.
See, I don’t do taxes for a living- I actually work and do real shite with a fleet of 20 or so heavy vehicles I own.
Son.

When you wanna fish you wanna fish.
Hope the kid gets his boat back. ISIS does get some stuff right, like chopping the hands off of thieves.

Has a police report been filed? Who should I call if I see it?
Can you post the registration numbers
Edit: looks like number is LA-7787-FE

Apple Air Tag.
Ya’ hide it somewhere on the boat/trailer inconspicuous or some place impossible to find? Is it like find my iPhone where you just pull up the app and search for the dot on the U.S. map?
Do you have to replace the batteries at some point? Never heard of these.
I’m rooting for tigerbelly’s baw. Pawpaws that take grandson’s fishing always have and will automatically get pre-approved for an eternity in Heaven.
Tbelly knows his part of the state is exactly where it’s gonna be until they find it. They may leave it in their shop or some garbage for a year and when it feels safe like the pressure’s off and believe they can launch without anyone giving it a second thought

They’re better than nothing but aren’t the best for tracking stolen items anymore, supposedly they were being used to stalk women. If an iPhone is near an unknown AirTag it’ll get a notification that one is moving with it in as little as 15 mins, and they only send a location if there’s an iPhone close. They also beep a couple times a day when away from the phone they’re tied to.

OP
contact the manufacturer of the outboard and give them the SN and let them know it’s stolen. We lost a boat with a 25hp mercury on it and only found it because the thief tried to sell it and the buyer brought it in for service. Outboard tech ran the number and called the sheriff

It looks like you have neighbors, Im assuming atleast one of them has a camera or Ring. May be worth asking neighbors up and down the street and could possibily lead to a vehicle model.

So I read through most of the thread and if it were me, I would look at people who know your son and his circle of friends.
Years ago we had a ton of fishing gear and equipment stolen out of our garage and boat and when the cops caught some of the assholes that did it I knew two of them from high school. They had been on a big ol stealing spree and finally got nabbed.
Might be worth a look into his acquaintances. Hope you get it back.

For a 17 year old to spend $5000.00 of his hard earned money it’s a lot.
Agreed. How does a 17 yo even come up with $5000?
quote:
He was blown away when it was given to him
So the boat was a gift and he still spent $5000 on it? Seems excessive and possibly exaggerated.

they we worked on for a year welding on, rearranging and fixing.
This really sucks for the kid but the silver lining is he did spend a lot of quality time with his grandpa fixing up the boat and that is priceless. And he also learned and invaluable life lesson about how shitty people are. I bet his next boat won't get stolen. Also, this is 100% an inside job. Whoever stole it is close to the victim. Relative, neighbor, classmate, something.

The kid came up with $5000.00 by working for me during the summer and after school. Not all kids today are lazy and just expect things to be given to them. I raised him to know that if you want something you have to work for it.
Also I guess you have no concept of what boat motors cost these days. His first boat was powered with a trolling motor which costs almost $1000.00. So the $5000 for a used Pro-Drive is very reasonable.
I do agree with you that we did get to spend quality time together working on the boat but that’s what makes this even harder for all of us. Hopefully he did learn a lesson about putting the locks on the trailer that he has and hopefully this never happens again.
