40s, the best decade of Adulthood

i basically wasted my entire 20s, a large portion of my 30s, so now in my 40s, having gotten myself straight and actually focusing on the things that are important in my life, vs. just focusing on the things that would bring the most immediate satisfaction, selfishly, i can say, so far, my 40s are the best..

It depends on the age of your kids. Had kids in my 30’s so it’s been 45-present for me. Other than high school/college age, I’m in great shape and enjoying life

Meh. I've had just as much fun after 40 and 50 as I did before. It's what you make of it.

I refuse to believe I’m not getting better all the time.

I’ve aged well, like a human Lafite Rothschild.

My mid to late 20s were the best. I was single and making close to 100k a year

Lots of parties and women were had. Great balance of working like an adult but partying like a college student plus plenty of disposable income

it was the 30-40 for me. The 40s have actually been the worst decade. Aging parents, career burnout, understanding your own mortality, body starting to hurt more.

I mean aside from all that, right?

frfr though, the wisdom that comes from age, the increasing amount of idgaf, and realization that moments, making memories, and experiences matter more than tangible stuff- I love getting older. life only gets better. you realize what is really most important.

As I’ve seen the ever changing world my travel focus has kinda shifted more towards the wilds of South America vs. across the Atlantic.

For anyone looking to travel put a couple weeks in Alaska at the very top of your list.
#2 should be a week - 10 days in Costa Rica.

I said that somewhat in jest. It's really quite liberating not giving a shite what people think of you, and being in your peak earning years.

My 40s have been fine. Our youngest kid can drive now. This decade has been rather laid back compared to my 30s, granted my youngest child was born when I was 28.

Some of us waited till we were older married younger women and are now entering our 40’s with toddlers and younger in our house, all I can say is I might have been broke and immature in my 20’s but physically this shite would have been a lot easier.

I think that's more common than my situation now and we definitely struggled some when we were young parents.
