The amount of profit on trucks and large SUVs must be astronomical.

It is. It subsidizes the losses on other cars and electric vehicles.

Ford and Chevy need lots of suckers to buy their full sized trucks. Ford makes an average of 10-15k per F-150. GM is at about 17k. Ram is probably similar. You can google it.

Some of these profit figures are from articles BEFORE the pandemic. So one can imagine what the profits are now.

But baws are gonna baw.

They should ditch advertising the overall price and start advertising in $/month in car note.

Lets get this straight.
They raise the MSRP $20k and give you $10k off.

Let me know when they drop it 30k off MSRP. Then it will be reasonable.

The less shite the better for me.

If I were in the market for a truck, I'd get one that was stripped down, then add everything aftermarket myself. You can get leather, Bluetooth radio with back-up camera, window tint, and new wheels/tires for $3,500. The dealer will only sell those as part of a "package" where it costs 3 times what it's worth.

Government motors are always the first to drop.

This old trope lol. You could say the same thing about Ford. Sure, Ford did not take the package “bailout.” Instead, Ford took out a multi-billion dollar loan from the Obama Dept. of Energy and let the the Dept. of Energy tell them to produce electric cars.

I’m going to question y’all’s OT status if you can’t buy a new F250 cash at this point.

It's probably $30k profit or more depending on trim. For GM to make $22B in profit with supply chain issues still a thing in 2022.

I bet that 2024 GM ATX4 that they are selling for $90k cost them $40k to build.

It’s $10,000 off of the “Custom.” That’s the basically the old work truck model - it’s bottom of the line. No one wants those, especially for close to $40,000

If you’re paying more than 40k for a new vehicle or 30k for a used Toyota, you’re an idiot.

Most of that stuff breaks easily and quickly. Plus, a bunch of chrome crap on a truck looks silly IMhO Give me power windows, locks, steering, and seats. Keep the rest

Buddy of mine has a brand new Dodge with all that shite on it. When backing a boat down a ramp in the dark, first thing you do is turn the headlights off for the other guys backing down. His wouldn’t turn off. It took him an hour that afternoon of digging through the computer settings to turn the fricking headlights off.

No thanks.
