I had one back in early 80s. Bought it at Sleepy Hollow. They had just opened an outlet in Ruston. I loved it. It had baffles, but not separate channels so it had a lot of waves. I bought it while going to Tech. When I got married, my wife wanted nothing to do with it. I had to give it away. It does bring back a lot of memories.

Leverage? We're talking waterbeds my friend. It's all about the motion of the ocean.

My girlfriend and I had one in college. She was a gymnast and a ballerina. I always liked that bed.

I’m just remembering when I had the old school bladder one in HS, one winter the heater went out and took a few weeks to replace and had to pile blankets on top because the water was cold.

I had the same problem once. It was extremely cold. I can remember siphoning it out the window to get the new heater under the bladder. Good times!!

My parents had one when I was a kid. I seem to recall that it was more trouble than it was worth.

My wife and I had one for years. I loved it. She started complaining about it hurting her back so we got rid of it. I still wish we had it but she is more important.

A GF in college had one in her apartment. It was no fun tryna bang on it.

This was a long time ago when they were still a thing here and there. I don't know a single person in 2023 who owns one.

Yep, I was about 8. Bed room was on the 2nd level of a two story older home, and the downstairs ceiling began cracking, under the weight. It was short-lived.

A friend in high school had one. He was playing around with a 45 caliber pistol in his room and didn’t realize it had a round chambered. He pointed it at the bed and fired. The bullet damaged the flooring under the bed but did such little damage to the bed itself he was able to patch it before his parents came home.

How did he explain the 500 gallons of water on the floor?

Probably didn’t help that my folks kept the heat pretty low.
Also recall how they kept my room like it was for the longest time. When I’d come home from college for the weekends and holidays, still had it.

I’ve had mine since 1982. I’m 66 now and wouldn’t sleep on anything else. I can’t believe there aren’t more of us out there, it really is the most economical and comfortable bed ever. We bought it for 300.00 new. We replaced the mattress twice. It was 150.00 for the first replacement and 200.00 the second time. Both leaks were due to kids, not faulty or weak mattresses. We still have the original heater, which works great. We have the free flow one so it’s the original kind.

It’s a California King and has been the bed of choice for 4 kids, 8 grands, and 4 dogs over the years.

Get one!

Maybe some older Gen X and boomers can elaborate how you would get leverage on a moving bed.

I think they called it a semi motion mattress. It had baffles in it that the motion down. That is what I had and never had a issue.

I had one with the tubes. You could make it as firm as needed. It was comfy. I sired two children in that bed.

I bought my full motion in 1979 from Southern Comfort on Florida Blvd. We're working on our second heater. Had a tree fall on it during Gustav and ruin the base. Bought a new base and mattress and it's still going strong.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!

Had the single bladder cheapest model they had.

They are cool at first and then its got to go.

Got it as a teenager thinking it would be cool for having sex with the ladies.

Uncomfortable to sleep on.
Pain in the butt as you have to change the water periodically.
if you have someone else on the bed with you it moves when they move.
