There are people saying this will have an ENORMOUS economic impact over the coming decades. This class of drugs isn't just a diet drug, it's an addiction drug. Smoke? This will help you quit. Gamble too much? This will help. Fast food? Don't sweat it, you won't want anymore.

You could do the same thing with naloxone for basically free

It sucks all the joy out of life where you don’t enjoy anything and you quit all your vices and only eat to survive

Of course there’s no money in a drug that’s been generic forever

I will give you my Monjauro story. I am 5'10" and weighed 330 lbs at my highest weight. I lost 100 pounds twice in my life without the use of any drugs (they weren't around back then) and gained it back. About 10 years ago, I said let me try something different where I don't deprive myself of any foods but eat in moderation. This worked but very slowly. It took me 8 years to lose 90 pounds where I got down to 240 pounds. Then I had back surgery to decompress a couple of discs in my back so that I could get in the gym and get my heart rate up to lose the last 50-60 pounds that I wanted to lose but developed a post operative staph infection which required me to later get a two-level fusion in my spine. Now it is difficult for me to do anything besides an elliptical, treadmill, or exercise bike. I asked my doctor about Monjauro in May 2023 and am now down to 202 lbs. My A1C went from 9.5 to 5.8 and i feel great. I haven't had any GI issues because I know that you also have to have a reasonable balanced diet while taking this drug.

For reference, I started with the 2.5Mg dose and am only up to the 7.5mg dose after 7 months.

My goal is to get to 199 and my stretch goal is to get to 185.

yes bro, thats how you do it right these. minimum effective dosing, using exercise and diet to get the most out of each dosing regiment

Yes, and also tastes way too sweet. Even now that I’ve been off for 4 months, still don’t crave or enjoy wine and ice cream. Maybe a couple of bites then I’m done. Which is great bc my gut never liked those things as much as my mouth did.

Congratulations! And thanks for sharing, I love hearing about MJ success stories. It has already changed a lot of lives and I am excited about the possibility of it (one day) being more accessible to anyone who could benefit from it.

Here’s to an overall healthier, happier and emotionally stable community. Treat the root cause and less dependent on multiple meds that can sometimes leave people sicker than they started.

I’m going to be pissed when there are no longer obese people to laugh at.

again its life style choices. if you get on the drug, eat 10x bw in calories, 200g protein a day and start lifting 2x per week and walking 10k steps per day....you will not lose muscle, you will actually gain it.

How many are going to do that, though? Once this hits the mainstream most people won't get it through a bariatric specialist with a wholistic approach. They'll get it through their PCP or a storefront weight loss clinic, neither of whom will have the expertise nor inclination to follow up on all that.

Gordy Rush is already doing ads for some medical "spa" that offers it along with the other woo woo procedures those places are known for.

There is a use for this stuff. I know a few people that have been diagnosed with autoimmune diseases and stay on steroids. They have gained 30-70 pounds and eat right. The steroids just win the battle when it comes to weight. They also cause more health problems because these people now have become obesite.

This is a great thing for this group. But I'm general there's is no substitute for proper diet and hard work in the gym. This is a lasting lifestyle change.
