9- fit crunch bar(400 calories)
Lunch
3-fit crunch bar (400 calories)
5- Creatine
7- supper
9- protein shake (700 calories) with a carb supplement
He was doing a protein shake for breakfast but currently stop because he felt full all the time and was skipping out on lunch.

Why does he want to gain weight? Too skinny?
Only asking to see if he had some plan he was working toward.
Is he lifting?

What’s he eating for lunch and dinner? That’s a whole lot of packaged foods. Get that baw some bacon and eggs for breakfast.
You’ve got 1900 calories in just snacks listed. Assuming he plays sports, he likely needs 3000-3500 calories per day (if not more) to create a surplus. That would mean his lunch/dinner have to be at least 1700 calories combined.
IMO I would give him more real food. 3 meals per day at least 800 calories each. Then you can add your supplements to fill the gaps. You can buy all the mass gainers in the world but if he’s like me in HS and eats a PB&J sandwich for lunch it won’t do much
Fats will be the easiest way to add calories. 1 tbsp of butter/olive oil is 140 calories. Put a tablespoon of EVOO in his shake, won’t even notice it’s there.

Work some whole milk in there. Scoops of peanut butter. Full fat ice creams

Have him drink heavy beer and take Valium.

I'm thinking at his height that's probably not underweight at all.

My son is 13 5’9 165. This is what he eats on a school day.
5:45 4 eggs, ham, toast, milk
7:30 whatever the free breakfast at school is
9:30 protein bar
12 school lunch
3:30 at home, PB&J before workout
6 supper. meat/carb/veg milk
8:30 greek yogurt with PB powder.
It’s not optimal, but he gets his protein and is in a surplus. When he’s older and weighing 200+ lbs I’m going to have to start packing bigger lunches because the school lunch stuff is trash.

He needs to go on a bodybuilding style diet
Meal. 1: Egg whites from carton (10 oz), 2 whole eggs, oatmeal and blueberries
Meal 2 and 3: Jasmine rice and chicken
Preworkout: 2 scoops whey, 20g PB and oatmeal or cream of rice
Post workout 2 scoops whey and jasmine rice
Meal 4: steak, ground beef / turkey, potatoes or rice and veggies

That’s not nearly enough fat for a 17 year old to be healthy, especially if he plays sports. A high school kid doesn’t need to/doesn’t have the time to be eating chicken and rice 5x a day like a 1980’s bro science bullshite diet

That bro science diet looks way better than any physique you can put together
It’s exactly what I did as a teen. Clown

im praying this is a joke. Do you realize he literally is eating dog shite until supper? do you really think pop tarts or oatmeal creme pie is going to give him a good start on the day?
im gonna assume you are serious and this is real, that your son is an athlete and he is lifting in a proper program....at his height and weight he should be on a linear progression program. ill start a new thread titled how to get the HS athlete to put on weight and you can use it as guidance
but i am flabbergasted that any adult would think that is a healthy day of eating to fuel a teenager. As someone else mentioned...add some coffee and looks like what the 76 year old widow down the street eats in a day.

Breakfast is your friend, but this is not breakfast. If possible yall should get up 10-15 minutes earlier and make quick grits or oatmeal, scramble 4 eggs, and toast wheat bread. Add some protein as well if you want.

Don't even need to do that. In 15-20 minutes on a Sunday you can scramble up 25 eggs in 1-2 lbs of ground beef/turkey. Throw some spinach or something in there and wrap it in tortillas and you have a high protein breakfast for a week

Give him more milk fats and also meat with potatoes, he also needs to eat at lesat 4 times a day, better 5.
