Maybe it's because I don't eat at trashy places, but I have never been somewhere where kids are running amuck and ruining everyone's experience.

My 18 month has been going out to eat his entire life and is constantly getting compliments on his restaurant behavior. If we were hit with a $50 fee for him I would quietly pay it and never go back regardless if my kid was with me or not. I dont think this is a winning strategy for the owner.

This didn't happen when I was a kid. Parents wouldn't allow it.
What was different then? I’m trying really hard to remember, but I can’t come up with anything.

Nothing it’s not trashy then having your kids sit at the table in a restaurant or the store or anywhere public blasting some kid song on a tablet. Teach these kids manners and get them a damn head set in public

2 parent home (each one of only two possible genders).
Parents disciplined their kids and invested in their lives. Taught them respect for themselves and others.
Parents weren't trying to be their kids best friends.

Good. Stay your arse at home if you can't control your fricking kids. I've always said there should be an a-hole kid fee
Absolutely. I stopped to fill up, while driving across country. Went to pay and there was this A-hole ahead of me with a four year old. Standing in front of the cash register, partially checked out, he was waiting for his Brat to pick out a toy. It went on and on.

Larry David likely would approve of this, and so do I.

I would add the same fee to "those" parties of 8+
I would also need to put one of their credit cards on file before taking anyone's order.
I just can't believe NFLSU would bring race into a conversation about kids.
If only we had some warning signs...

Kids watching brainless bullshite on tablets at a family dinner is upper-tier level trash

Their business is about to explode!!! Having grown up up in the era that as a kid I would get my arse whopped in the parking lot of even a McDonald’s if I acted up, I totally agree with this.
No one should have to put up with other peoples shitty behaving kids.
ETA: Just wondering as a parent. How are so many able to totally ignore, and not even realize what their shithead kids are doing? It’s almost like they totally forget they even have kids in public.

True
And spell out what constitutes a bad parenting fee. Kids laughing vs kids screaming vs kids watching a video
But also.... That 50 needs to go to those around the kids. The staff is getting paid, the clientele is paying for an enjoyable evening
Then add a bad person fee... For those jas they think everyone needs to hear
" so we fn out all fn night and got fn drunk" ...and that fee needs to go to the surrounding booths

I hate kids but what’s wrong with them watching a tablet? I’d rather they be doing that than staring at people or running around the place

Users also criticized the other fees on the menu, like an 18% gratuity for separate checks and a $3 fee for sharing a plate.
There's a lot of entitlement there, and it ain't from the parents or kids.

Another reviewer claims he was charged $50, even though his children were well behaved. “The owner came out and told me he was adding $50 to my bill because of my children’s behavior. My kids watched a tablet until the food arrived, ate their food and my wife took them outside while I waited and paid the bill.”

It's real easy and simple and legal to simply make your restaurant 18+. Charging a fee for children is just dumb. If you don't want kids in your restaurant, simply don't let them in.
Nah. It's on their menu so if you're a parent and you're worried about little Lexi and Max acting like the creatures you know they can? Quietly grab your oversized purse and leave. Go to Gatti's.
