Should David Griffin be on the hotseat for this season?

I say yes. We have not made significant roster moves in 1.5 years and have had roughly the same results for 3.

Zion has had plenty time to develop and the “Genius” trades we made are panning out to be fool’s gold unless we get lucky.

Hoping health is on our side this year, but not counting on it.

They think that the roster is set and health has been the issue, which I agree with. I think if this is another lost season some big changes will happen with the roster and probably the front office, too.

I think that is extremely obvious.

If it doesn't work out this year there should be a complete house cleaning.

We trade for CJ/ Nance 1.25 years ago. So we have made a big move even after that 1.5 years mentioned.

In that 3 year span who would you have traded?

BI in the last 3 seasons? He’s gotten better each season.

Zion the last 3 seasons? Healthiest he’s looked since we’ve drafted him.

Trade Herb, Jose, Trey? On their rookie contracts with the way they are playing?

Val? The ONLY center we had in those 3 years who played just about every game and was one of our most reliable players?

I just want a realistic answer as to what “trades” people wanted us to make.

Both can be true. We shouldn’t have made any roster moves and need to see this team healthy. BUT if that’s not possible then you can’t wait again.

Val is an obvious answer if you can find the right deal. Need a player that fits better.

I also would have searched and see if someone would give you a mint for BI. Personally I think he is a very overrated player, but would certainly depend on the deal.

The problem is health has been the issue, not talent.

Also Griff has turned over most of the day to day to Langdon, so Trajan is pretty much running the show now, which kind of gives a good explanation as to why he’s been turning down interviews for GM jobs elsewhere.

If it goes awry this year, I could see them trading Ingram since we have a replacement in house already in order to try to get a big name talent, especially before we have to give him an extension.

Counterpoints.

1) Willie is in his last year I believe, seems like a good fall guy for Griff if things don't work out.
2) This is a business and the Pels are making money. I think it would take a really big financial mistake, like going into the tax for a 1st round exit, for Griff to be in danger. Even if that happens, see #1.
3) Griff has hired a bunch of high profile women in high profile positions. That's something I believe Mrs. Benson likes and has probably served her well in certain social circles. We saw what Uncle Al knighting for the team did, I have to think Griff has earned some level of internal good will with the "family" he's built.

It is extremely rare for a FO to get to pick 4 Head Coaches in so short a period of time and survive. I can’t think of an instance of that from a halfway decent franchise.

If 3 HCs of his don’t work out he should be gone.

For any decent franchise this is a bad point. For us unfortunately it’s a good one. I could see Gayle not caring as long as the money is coming in, see: Saints.

You can find another person to hire women.

I wouldn't even need a mint tbh. A couple 1st or a 1st/swap plus an upgrade at C would be it for me. I still wish we could do Claxton and Finney-Smith plus picks. Hell a 3 way with the Cavs & Nets would be great too. Mitchell wants NY, maybe Brooklyn works too idk. Regardless I love BI as a rep for our team, but he's a Demar and we need a Klay imo.

You already have a BI replacement on roster that is about to get PAID. If you can trade him for assets and better fitting parts if it doesn’t work out this year that’s what needs to be done.

Agreed, that's why I said Klay over Demar. I think Trey very much has a chance to be 90% of Klay Thompson on offense at least. BI is a better player in the aggregate. But Trey is a better fit for us. and BI's talent doesn't equal the price we're gonna have to pay for him IMO.

THe idea that Willie is already marked as a miss is pretty silly.

He's coached 2 seasons. His best player has averaged 14.5 games played.

Uncle Al counts as a coaching hire for him, fair or not

There is no way Griff gets to fire his 3rd coach and hire his 4th.

I wouldn't say there is no way. This is Gayle Benson after all. She is basically an absentee owner.

But he SHOULDN'T get to hire his 4th, and I think he probably doesn't get to

Yeah, I wasn't saying those were good reasons that I listed why I think Griff is kind of safe, I was saying those were the reasons that I think Griff's seat isn't really that hot.
