I think this was a couple Asians and a couple of black guys making a practical joke video.

Hard to sympathize with the shooter or his friend in this case. However this got started they had the better of the other guy and didn't want to just beat him up but wanted to kill.
Even if you started out being the victim there's not a blank check to escalate a fist fight into a gun fight.

You have a right to defend yourself until the threat is stopped. How are you going to define the threat being gone in that situation? You are fearing for your life or well being. Anyone in the "fight" mindset is going to be absolutely certain there is no threat left before stopping.

Also, this was a murder no question. If that guy was a carjacker however- not guilty.

But we have no evidence of any wrongdoing by the guy who was shot.
If the shooter and his friend were innocents this should have been a lot more of an adrenaline fueled panic response instead of them being really fricking calm. They were cooler than Michael Corleone.
If the guy who was shot was a perpetual hoodrat I think he would have been armed and his friends would have been armed. The guy filming seemed terrified (for good reason)

That “fight” mindset loses sway when an individual appears to be fleeing. A shot in the back is going to be very hard to defend in court and I would prefer check my adrenaline in a moment than serve years in jail.

Nonsense. By that logic we are obligated to kill every person you get into a fistfight with.
The only gun visible in the video was held by the shooter.
I will probably change my opinion if there's another person with a gun. You can absolutely shoot someone else who has a weapon.
