Parker County (Aledo, Brock, Milsap, Peaster, and Weatherford) are also nice if the wife can find employment in that area or in west Ft. Worth.

I had eyeballed Grapevine just from looking at maps. Glad to hear it's reasonable. Apartments are stupid expensive though.

Can’t go wrong. I am just where Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake butt up to each other. Literally walk out my front door and across the street is “Grapevine”. I can be parked at DFW in about 12 minutes but never hear a plane and centrally located to the entire Metro area.

Is there seriously a significant Gypsie population in white settlement?

Grapevine looked to be close to outdoor park areas and far enough from the metro area.

There are some good trails to ride mountain bikes over around the lake plus I drop my kayaks in there a couple times a year.

That's because they re-routed the runways years ago to only go north/south. You're a good 5-7 miles out of the flight path.

You do not want Garland or even worse Garland schools.

Good to know. Need to take a scouting trip out there at some point.

Not sure why Preston Hollow keeps coming up. The school district is terrible as it is zoned to Dallas ISD. Highland Park/University Park are zoned to HP ISD which is a great district. Though the west side of Highland Park (West of the DNT) is also zoned to Dallas ISD

because it's old money, that's where GW Bush, Ross Perot, Mark Cuban and T. Boone Pickens lives/lived.

I’ve noticed home prices are way way less in the part zoned to Dallas ISD.

I don't know if that's their home base, but we're probably 10-15 minutes from WS and my wife hired those frickers to trim our trees a couple years ago. I came home to a guy standing on a horizontalish limb with a chainsaw in one hand, a cigarette in the other, and no fall protection whatsoever. I will say they did a better job than I expected.

But the public schools are terrible which OP referenced being one of the key decision factors for them

Yep, you jump the highway and the prices seem to get cut in half.

If you want the best neighborhood and best public schools close to downtown Dallas its gotta be Highland Park.

Dude looked at houses in Garland and has old lady running on the hamster wheel with him. I don’t know for certain, but I’m guessing the $3M tear downs in highland park are out of his budget.

Well, that’s because it isn’t the west side of Highland Park, it is Northwest Dallas.
