Can't say it's cold enough for you, but there are some decent fall colors, especially North Alabama.

If Mississippi eliminated the income tax, I would establish residence there with no problem.

By 2026, Mississippi will have a 4% flat tax on personal income, the 5th lowest in the nation among states that tax personal income.

I'm late, but....I lived in TX early 2000's 7 yrs. Property taxes and home owners insurance was bullshite then. Housing prices too.

The no state tax thing in TX is pure BS when considering the above now.

TX is not as attractive of a move as people think superficially.

I’m no longer 75503Tiger, my new zip is the hill country and will likely always be for me. I love not being in the city but having two major cities nearby. It’s also a beautiful place but it gets fricking hot

Property taxes

You can move 1/2 a mile into a different MUD and cut your property taxes in half. Or you can leave Houston and go to DFW (at least Carrol County), and also cut your property taxes in half.

But now you live in Lousy-ana, and aren't escaping the 4.5% income tax, no matter where you live, even while having to pay to send your kids to private school. Yeah, that's awesome.

I love the Branson area. It’s just gorgeous. I hate what it does to my ears. But they can adjust.

Selective rationale on property taxes, but bottom line is all areas of TX metros are going up exponentially. You left out home owners insurance and home prices. Fact is TX has combined highest peroperty tax and home ownersn insurance rates in the nation.

I moved to Birmingham a few months ago…absolutely love it. The fall colors and weather are unreal. Haven’t ventured to N Alabama yet but planning on going in next couple of weeks. People are super friendly and only occasionally give me shite about being an LSU fan haha
