Don't they get a chance to change their vote at the end??

There should be another round of voting.

Cheering when the candidate votes for themself is beyond idiotic. I hate it

Jefferies votes for himself and all the Dems stand up and applaud him like he's 3 and just "put peepee in the potty like a big boy".

I wonder if the first round was to send a message, akin to a baseball writer not nominating someone on their first hall of fame ballot.
Itx politics. Some no votes will eventually cave and can claim both sides of the fence later on for reelection (as some are in blue areas).

It’s the nerd party. What do you expect.

Why do people think this puts the least bit of a dent in fed spending? It will not.

I assume it was jefferies you’re talking about? That dude loves the spotlight and thinks he’s a king.

Did a Republican just vote for Jeffries?
I may have misunderstood what happened... whatever woman decided to say a whole paragraph instead of just the name

To be fair, I think it has historical precedence dating back to pre revolutionary England

The people voting for McCarthy should be embarrassed.

You posted this a bit too early pal. J. Jordan got the same treatment

So are these "others" votes likely to come into the fold in another round?

Both parties. It’s always happened and it’s something I find ridiculous but then again politicians are all jackasses so of course they would congratulate themselves for doing something simple.

One is at a funeral
Do you know how this works? Its not simple majority wins. You have to reach half of the congressional members plus one. If both sodes failt to hit that number then nobody wins. And you have to revote. Could take hours or could take days. Maybe even weeks.
