Not many Shaquilles coach travel ball. You typically find them in the more urban sports. Hence, a coach named Shaquille would likely not be shot by Jaxson's dad.
Jaxon's dad would have just sued the coach. Or bought a team for Jaxson to start on.

Lock up the guy for as long as possible but the whole story shows the real issue as a societal cultural problem

Is this that guy who kept pestering the coach to give his son a certain jersey number?

Pissed off parent of marginal talent youth " get all the football stuff together...wait, what am I missing...oh yeah my loaded piece...off to practice". Coach of said youth football team :" let's see...practice balls,clip-board,power-ade...wait, what am I missing...oh yeah my loaded piece" LOL
Is there really ANY hope for this 'culture' ???

First degree assault. No attempted murder.
St Louis. No jail time. This sounds like a St Louis problem.

Seems like a lifetime ago of all the BLM marches and people marching and saying things had to change that it was a watershed moment for society
Now we are Right back to the same old same old shite
Nah, it’s worse. Much worse. People like this have been emboldened, and the charges play a role in that.

quote:Serious question -- I've never coached kids, but I was a 3rd and 4th grader back in the day. Why have 'starters' at that age? Why should that be a thing? I'd think it would be a lot better for the kids both developmentally and for safety reasons to just shuffle them all in and out of games no matter how good or bad they are.
He coaches 3rd and 4th graders with most of the starters being 4th grade.
If anybody running the leagues or coaching actually cares about won-loss records (beyond who gets a cheap trophy at the banquet), I think we've identified the problem.

All kids under high school age should get playing time. Better kids can play more and play the better positions, but all kids need to play. If you’re not playing when you’re 10, then when will you ever play?

Why the hell is he getting charged with assualt rather than attempted murder?
He shot somebody over a football game in front of kids. Wow. What bullshite.

What is important here is to not separate the father from his family.
