TorF: the next LSU QB after Nuss will be a transfer

Two of the best LSU QBs of all time are transfers. With the portal, teams are increasingly poaching great players from lesser schools. QBs develop and perform elite elsewhere and then try to up their stock at a place like LSU.
Collins and Hurley are obviously no guarantees of success. LSU is in play for two 5 star QBs in HS recruiting but both seem to be favored to go elsewhere.
Bonus question: Will LSU seemingly turning into an elite Offensive football team attract the top HS QBs to come?

That’s way too far ahead to even be thinking about. One Saturday at a time.

I’m not on the team like you are so I can think about tomorrow

I don’t think he is currently on the team or commited

Depends if we can get the kid from Michigan or not
Don’t think we’ve ever had one out of HS like him

If they need it to be, then yea. It is a proven, winning model even before the transfer portal.

History is your answer. We should bring in someone from the portal, regardless what the coaches think of Nuss.

I think it’s kind of funny how Hurley has gone from the next great LSU QB to “no guarantee of success.” Speaks to the futility of trying to project HS sophomores.
To the question - it’s impossible to really know how Collins and Hurley will develop, but if I were forced to guess I would say true.
Let’s look at LSU since 2012:
2012 - Mett (transfer)
2013 - Mett (transfer)
2014 - Jennings
2015 - Harris
2016 - Etling (transfer)
2017 - Etling (transfer)
2018 - Burrow (transfer)
2019 - Burrow (transfer)
2020 - Brennan/Finley/Johnson
2021 - Johnson
2022 - Daniels (transfer)
2023 - Daniels (transfer)
That’s 8 years of transfer QB’s and only 4 years of QB’s recruited by LSU out of high school. And most of those years were before the one-time transfer exception.

if you look at the national landscape the last few years, some of the most successful teams are led by portal QBs. You can cutout the development phase and have a turnkey situation almost immediately.
LSU fans are always way, way behind the times. They still think defenses should hold teams to 12points.

I sometimes question whether anyone on this forum can think, myself included

This brings up an interesting question - if you have a coach who can develop QB’s, is this good or bad?
Intuitively one would think “bad,” but I wonder if the experience these QB’s are getting under multiple schemes/QB coaches might actually help in a lot of cases. In other words - if you have a “QB whisperer” type of coach on your staff, is it possible that they can actually do more with a QB who has a different perspective coming in than a HS kid?
One thing is certain, there are a ton of transfers playing at an extremely high level nowadays.

Do you mean long term starter or just “the next QB to record a start after Nuss” ?

I have no idea who is next, but there's increasing evidence every Saturday that this coaching staff is developing QBs at a very high level. That should help QB recruiting.

I’m not so sure we don’t bring in a qb to compete with Nuss next year
I don’t think Kelly will be content with the backups being Collins and a 17 year old freshman

Ohio St and Alabama have really only been the two teams that consistently do this at a high level. Unless him just having a huge brain fart. They are also unicorn programs.

The next QB after Jayden Daniels may be a transfer.

Well, if players would be happy to sit the bench and develop their first two years, then this can happen with players that are recruited. Transfers still sometimes need another year of play/development (see Burrow) at the school they transfer to.
