Massie has a statement on X.

quote:

I condemn the barbaric attack on Israel and I affirm Israel’s right to defend itself.

However, I will not be voting for House Resolution 771 today because:

1) It calls for sanctions on a sovereign country. Sanctions are a prelude to war and hurt the citizens of the country more than the government of the country that’s being sanctioned. And ultimately, sanctions create laws that will be used to prosecute American citizens (who engage in trade), not citizens of the sanctioned country. In short, sanctions do not achieve their stated purposes but do breed resentment of our country abroad.

2) It asserts the necessity of foreign aid commitments which I have voted against. Our country is going bankrupt and we can’t afford to borrow money to send overseas, yet this resolution states that we should.

3) It contains an open-ended promise of military support that is so broad that it could be interpreted to commit US soldiers to the conflict. US troops should not be engaged in this conflict.

4) It tends to broaden the conflict to other countries when it would be better to keep the war contained geographically.

Both U.S. and Israeli Officials have now Confirmed that Prime Minister Netanyahu has Agreed to Delay the Invasion of the Gaza Strip until the U.S. Military is able to move more assets into the Region including at least 12 Air Defense Systems, for the Interception of Cruise and Ballistic Missiles as well as Rockets and Drone, which are set to be spread across multiple Countries in the Middle East including Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.

Hamas goal from the beginning of this has been to draw Israel into Gaza and set the stage to light the entire region on fire and galvanize the Arab world against Israel once again.

Everybody in the region has been getting a bit chummy with Israel lately and that is an existential threat to Hamas.

While Israel is correct in responding how they so wish a pyrrhic victory is a very possible outcome.

Whether you love him or hate him, Andy Ngo is great at highlighting hypocrisy.

I can respect that, and even agree with most of it.

I knew his reasoning would be very different from the others and I agree with his position.

Unless you were one of the 120+ hostages killed in the “rescue” attempt at a theater.

Probably zero, but the response of Russia VS what the US would have done is what I was getting at. Russia doesn’t care about hostages, compared to the U.S., that’s going to do everything humanly possible to get everyone out safely.

Want to read a conflicting representation via media.

Google Cooper Union, news tab, and read a few articles to see how twisted news sources can get on the same subject.

Not trying to editorialize either way, but was looking for info and realized how much the story changed with emotional wording and descriptions

It’s a fair thought. I just think of it from a perspective of saving future lives and not just the ones in the moment. Harsh, yeah, but rewarding a practice encourages it, and we shouldn’t encourage hostage taking as a tactic.

Easier in a system where you don’t have to be re-elected. But yes it’s the correct decision in terms of strategy to not put more lives at risk.

Looks like they are getting closer to going in. Clearing pathways for the upcoming assault.

OSINTdefender @sentdefender Footage has been released showing the Armored Assault last night by the Israeli Defense Force into the Northern Gaza Strip involving a number of Merkava Mark lV Main Battle Tanks, Caterpillar D9 Armored-Bulldozers, and Puma Armored-Engineering Vehicles; during the Assault the Bulldozers can be seen Clearing Dirt Piles near the Border Fence as well as Constructing several Paths which will likely be used during the upcoming Invasion.

Beslan was 2 years after the theater attack.

I am on the fence about considering the hostages as a lost cause or not, but Chechnya really only settled down after A) better economic integration with Russia itself and B) the Russian government looking the other way while the hardcore Islamists streamed into Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria in the late 2000’s and 2010’s.
