NBC reports that the Biden administration is working with other countries on drafting a plan that would create green corridors for civilians out of Gaza into Egypt

Holy frick look at this destruction to Gaza already and Israel has barely started.

Iran probably laughs at goading them into provoking Israel. Anyone with half a brain knows Israel and do more damage than Hamas.

In my imagination the delay to the ground invasion is that they are finishing welding armor plating to a thousand bulldozers.\

Bigger than Orleans Parish. It’s 25x5 miles long
and very densely populated. It will not take long for the locals who haven't participated so far this isn't your average intafada response.

The Israeli casualties will be somewhat large with a lot of wounded.

The Palestinian casualties will be enormous. Every IED or sniper shot where an Israeli gets rushed a short distance to a trauma unit for stabilization will be met by 4 or 5 buildings being brought down on their heads with no rescue or help anywhere in sight.

Agreed. Israel has a lot of warts, but what Hamas did deserves severe retribution. The real retribution probably belongs in or near Tehran, though.

Really puts it in perspective to think of hundreds of air strikes in an area that size.

ETA: damn I saw it was clarified but that’s still small say the size of lafourche parish

I still see buildings standing. Israel needs to change that.

Israel needs to hit the tallest building, then the next tallest, and so on until all of the buildings are the same height.

Then clean it up and build luxury resorts on the Med for the rest of the civilized world to enjoy.

I actually commend that and think that kind of role is appropriate for America. That being said, how the frick do you screen that to make sure Hamas foot soldiers aren't just fleeing through the green zone?

Don't let any fighting age males through

It's kinda shitty I guess, but it's what I would do if I were the country accepting refugees

Iran's problem is that Hamas may have taken it too far. Israel's Air Force can absolutely rain hell in Iran, and they might be pissed off enough to go for the throat.

Gaza Strip
Population: 2.048 million (2020)
Area: 140.9 mi²

Orleans
Population 383,997 (2020)
Land 169.42 sq mi (438.80 km2)

Density is crazy different and Orleans probably takes into account some swamps that might be more water now than land.

Parsing probably, but pretty close in size for sure.

Everyone that knows, knows how much you value free speech here, good and bad, but yes there has to be a line.

Odds are good the vast majority of military age males would be Hamas fighters or at least sympathizers. The sad truth is Palestinian kids, from preschool age & up, are taught to hate Jews and Christians, but especially Jews. That why there will never be peace between Palestinians and Jews. You can’t make peace with an enemy when the only thing your enemy wants is for you to die.

I saw rumors earlier today that Egypt had closed the crossing. The basic rule is that women and children were allowed by the Egyptians to cross into Egypt (I don't know how long ag that started.) Military aged males wouldn't be permitted to cross without proof of a job they were going to.
