That makes sense

It does not make sense at all.

They're doing what they did in their home country to survive because they are uneducated. Thing is they're getting free benefits here.

I’ve seen this in Florida. Ladies and sometimes men setting up shop at an interstate exit. Traffic gets backed up on the red light and you get some that I guess buy a flower

They’re ubiquitous around the inner loop intersections and it’s exploded the last few months.

They often have the little kids in the stroller next to them or even are carrying them w the flowers in the other hand.

Makes me sick and I refuse to give them anything.

you mean Medicaid and food stamps? Federally funded but distributed by the states? Those that do not have a resident alien status and 5 years residency do not qualify in Texas.

However ‘migrants’ are able to receive those benefits in California and New York. The children can go to school - if the children are born here they are citizens and qualify for programs. And most states let immigrants partake in the WIC program

If I see people trying to sell something on the street that looks like useless crap that could in no way be a viable way to make any real money, my assumption is it's a nice way to conceal street level selling of illicit drugs. In Medellin, Colombia the streets are full of people selling stuff, most of it is the typical cheap t-shirt or knock off luxury watches bullshite, but the young boys and girls selling cheap suckers or lollipops or some kind of candy are the biggest dead giveaway of "something else is going on here".

Nobody is buying those lil tiny blo-pops, but if you use yer best spanglish and some hand gestures to request another kind of item to them they will casually wander off around the corner and casually wander back to you and give you a price, you pay if you want and they'll casually but reliably facilitate your transaction for a "blo-pop" or whatever. In all likelihood, those candies they're carrying around are months old. Probably same for the fake flowers.

How can you live in Houston and not understand Mexican and Latina are different? Are there any other countries in Central or South America, dumbass? Call a Colombian woman Mexican. Set up the GoPro so we can see how she beats the shite out of you.

What neighborhoods? I hadn't really noticed. Although panhandlers are more common at OTL intersections now.

In San Antonio it’s more common for poor Mexicans to come inside bars to sell flowers. I usually buy them all when they do it. It’s like $100 and it makes their entire month.

If your initial response is to make fun of or hate on these people you are scum of the earth IMO.

Don't flash your headlights at the flower sellers...it is a gang initiation. They will jump out of the car and shoot you.
