I was in the stadium that day. I remember driving back to Bham, looking to my left and seeing Eli Gold in the car next to me.

LSU was a pretty decent team on the road during the Hallman years, and frankly Alabama was overrated in 1993. Y'all had already tied Tennessee, and then y'all lost to Auburn late in the season, and then lost BIG to Florida in the SECCG. LSU beating Bama was an upset, but not a monumental one. Also didn't Bama lose a starting QB during the game?

I'm nitpicking here, but yall were trying for an undefeated season, not a perfect season. Bama and Tennessee had already tied earlier that year.

People who can count care.

Yo Gump. Alabama had to use a miraculous David Palmer scramble TD run to tie Tennessee the weekend before the LSU game. Alabama was far from 'cruising' to a perfect season.

That’s some fun math

Thank God they didn't start Palmer. He is the only reason game was close.

Went back and had a look at that season.I am so glad I wasn’t around for those Curly years. I had no idea LSU was so bad so recently. 6 straight losing seasons up until the mid-90s. Then even DiNardo landed a couple more losing seasons before being replaced by Saban.
Saban legit woke the sleeping giant and turned LSU around in an instant. Fortunately those were my first years I was cognizant of LSU football. Now we’re a premier brand in college football and thats with 2 numbnuts in succession of Saban that were even able to win a national title!

I know a player on that team who as a senior didn’t get much playing time. He got some time on special teams.
The last play of the game was a special teams play so he was on the field as the game ended.
He played maybe three snaps all game but he made the front cover of the Advocate sports section, looking like a hero, for their cover shot of the When Pigs Fly article.
He still laughs about that to this day.

I love DiNardo for "bringing back the magic", and enabling LSU to again wear their traditional home uniforms. That alone was responsible for the team's improvement after the dismissal of Hallman.

Your QB's that day were Brian Bergdorf (spelling) and Freddie Kitchens. Had Gene started Palmer instead, you probably win by two TD's.

That game was freezing cold and our offense wasn’t that bad. Loup was awesome, but the D gave up 100 yards rushing to 3 different players. It was an alltime choke performance.
Brett Bech, who caught everything, also dropped a wide open TD.

I was working at a Landscape center while attending Paramedic school. Had to work that day. I watched on a black and white Sony “watchman”. I screamed from inside the pine straw trailer when we got that last pick. Freaked out the landscapers and coworkers. They thought I was injured.

Didn't put David Palmer in at quarterback soon enough or Alabama would have won.

I was there. Good defense and the counter run play from LSU. Bama could not stop it. The pigs flew that day and it was awesome to watch with my two daughters. First LSU game for them. Sat in the end zone with the fans and the band and the fans were so gracious to my girls they walked away with a lot of Mardi Gras souvenirs. One of my best LSU game memories.
