A Tennessee high school football coach has resigned a week after being suspended.
WVLT reports that Sweetwater High School head football coach Caleb Slover was under a thorough investigation that initially prompted his suspension.
Coach Slover said he hadn’t done anything wrong, but a group of parents were trying to influence playing time regarding players on the team.
School officials said the program is moving on without Slover.

“I have done nothing wrong or improper, other than to refuse to make decisions as to playing time and positions because of a small group of parents with a large influence,” Slover said.

“It is obvious that Coach Slover was not a good fit for Sweetwater High School, and we look forward to moving forward from here on out,” athletic director and assistant principal Caleb Norwood said.

That goes on usually at every school. Parents think their kids are all Americans. Good job coach

Were they trying to bribe him?
What means of influence were the using?

It's getting harder and harder to hire teachers much less coaches. Parents have lost their damn minds and kids all think they are going pro. It's the reason I stopped coaching years ago.

When parents spend half their kids college money on sports camps they deserve to play, right?

A quick look on Maxpreps,
They were 1-9 last year and are 4-1 so far this year.
I would guess he did a Coach Prime maybe.
Anyway, very very few high school coaches are spiteful to the point where they let an a player who is an asset to the team, sit on the bench. I wont say id doesn't happen but the extreme vast majority of coaches are going to put the best player on the field.

This is why I love coaching track/cross country. Youre either one of the fastest/furthest performer or youre not. No subjectivity. You dont like that little timmy isnt running varsity? Tough they need to get faster.

Parents are the worst part about coaching.
I coached my kids T-ball team this year and had parents asking if I thought their kid was going to go far in baseball. Number one, I'm a T-ball coach and have no idea what I'm doing, and number two my whole job is trying to keep little *eighton from catching a bat to the head from little *axton.

God forbid they miss playing time in T-ball or they might not get a Baseball full ride to College.

Cheer or dance team moms are the worst.

Right.
No subjectivity when it comes to talent. They are at the mercy of the stopwatch. Never thought about that

There is a dad with a kid on our tball team that doesn't bother the coaches, but he will yank his kid to the side at practice or games and give him "private instruction" which is basically him yelling at the kid to be better. I feel so bad for the kid, but it's not my business.
His kid is one of the outfield butterfly chasers. Clearly doesn't enjoy the sport, which makes me sad when his dad is so hard on him.

I coached little league 20 years and was over the t ball league 2 years. Those 2 years were by far the worst
