Ole Miss claiming the 2003 SEC West

So obviously it’s stupid in the first place, but usually teams that do this kind of have a basis for it (Like USC being ranked #1 in the AP. Still not really a good argument). But in 03 we only lost to Florida, an East team, while their loss was to us, a fellow West team. So how do they even have an argument to claim co-champs of the West? Like I said, it’s dumb and from 20 years ago but it just baffles me how retarded they are.

Imagine how stupid the banners are going to be when the SEC schedule divides into six different pods and Ole Miss ends up in a rotation with Miss. St. and Vanderbilt.

Pretty sure LSU has trophies from similar scenarios as you are officially entitled to it. But they’re buried in some trophy room somewhere and not on prominent display.

As a previous poster said many teams would claim it too since they tied for it and lost the SECCG slot on the tiebreaker. To most teams it wouldnt stick out that much but when it is your only one it is like a big pimple on your nose. Also it is like kissing your sister but there is nothing wrong with that in Mississippi…

Because this is how the SEC looks at it. At the end of the season, if the SEC records are equal, they are considered co-division champions, and a tiebreaker is used only to determine which plays in the SEC championship game. So blame the SEC.
