imo all parties should require all candidates registered to have to attend the debates. just my opinion.

as far as the OP, with the way the rules are, trump shouldn't. it doesn't benefit him and even if he did it would just turn into trump hurling childish insults are Ron or anyone else on stage as other than foreign policy he cant really point to any lasting wins.

He would kick Ron and everyone elses arse on Foreign policy though. Also would be able to point to his record on judges.

problem is he would get fricking destroyed for spending and for covid and having his "tax cuts" reversed so quickly. he would also get beat on 2A rights by some of them on stage adn also would get destroyed on some 1A rights.

not sure what the topics are at each debate but if the main focus is foreign policy, trump absolutely should attend. he would wipe the floor with the other candidates on that.

The thing is though, no matter what he does cult45 will support him. he can do no wrong. and if you speak the truth as Ron did last night about trumps spending....the cult will do everything in their power to kill your chances, your career and with the way many post on here...i think they would honestly kill for insulting trump. how dare anyone question him.

Why would you blow a big spending Democrat that hired Johnny Bolton?

Only GHWBush seemed to have that problem.

In what way is Desantis a disaster as a Governor of Florida? He has been wildly successful, the most successful Republican Governor in America.

He has been a great Governor. But his campaign is horribly run. Not sure if that was his decision or the people he put in place to run it.

But it is awful.

I don't have an issue with Trump sitting out the first few debates. But once it get's down to 2 or 3 candidates, yeah, he needs to debate.

I think he "should" in the sense that it's healthy. Practically, unless Ron can consolidate some additional support (which he eventually will if suspensions begin), it's a hard sell IMO.

Sitting out debates is no different than Biden hiding in the basement or ball players sitting out bowl games or “resting for the playoffs” or teams “tanking for the draft”

I like your analogies, but it's more like the presumed #1 pick not showing up at the combine. They know they have flaws and if they go head to head with the other players they will be on display for everyone to see.

Trump won't debate DeSantis because it's the safe thing to do. He runs the risk of showing all his flaws to the people who will decide his fate. Sane and rational people know he will be a flop, but since he's such an exciting player to watch, most people will look beyond his obvious failings and take a chance on him.

Desantis has offered him a 1:1 but Trump won’t do it.

He’s running on personality not policy.

Ok explain how it would benefit Trump to debate someone who is so low in polling that they really dont have a chance. Wouldnt it make more sense for Trump to pivot towards the democrats he might face in the general?

I like Desantis and think he would have made a great president but his campaign has been a dumpster fire.

I think we can both agree that the goal it to not have a democrat in the white house.

Explain why this would matter to any American besides Trump?

I don't care in the slightest what benefits Trump, I care what benefits America.

So what? You think DeSantis wouldn't have appointed judges with similar philosophies?

Trump would just be teeing it up for DeSantis to then point to his record of suspending prosecutors...compared to Trump keeping an asswipe like Fauci in his job. DeSantis knocks it out of the park on this one.

I’m a DeSantis supporter and it seems obvious that DeSantis doesn’t have the traction necessary to demand a debate.

I don’t like the new “let’s skip the debates” trend. But most debates are useless shitshows with everyone just angling for sound bites.

Debates are the bowl games of politics. You can only get injured, so there’s no point in playing in one if you don’t have to.

Dude, just STFU. Desantis has actually run a government in his life and has had more success against election fraudsters and wokies than Trump ever will have.

You're a bot and a fraud. Just go away.

This is clearly a reaction thread to the DeSantis fan’s thread about Ron challenging Don. It isn’t the Trump fans that are yapping. It is Ron’s campaign in its death throes and his cult following making all of the noise.

He has nothing to gain and is currently blowing away the field. It doesn't make sense. We already know what Trump is about. He was actually president at one time and his policies were some of the best this country has ever seen.

Because he's older and might be saying incoherent shite, so I need to know before I cast a vote. I don't want to listen to a pre-rehearsed speech either.
