Not sure where you’d plug him in but if healthy he’s a top tier OL

He was a top tier OL. He fell off quite a bit last season, even before his injury.

But with the way the Saints' OL has looked early, I wouldn't be upset if they kicked the tires on him.

At this point they need to be kicking tires on anyone with a pulse. The OL is really bad.

I’d get him but only if it’s to play guard. His days of playing tackle are over. That being said if Penning still plays like shite I would move Hurst back out to LT and let Penning, Collins and Peat fight for LG.

The o line is going to have to be reset in the off-season

Collins isn't going to help.

Will have to draft a guard and tackle.

This might just be me reading into things too much but I follow NOF really closely and I feel like I've noticed that Nick has passed some of his "sources" to Brooke and Mike, so this probably doesn't mean "nothing"

Yeah if NOF is hinting at it then it becomes quite substantiated.

Problem is, Hurst has not been good at all. Notice how bad Penning was when he was at LG and how much worse Ram looked when Hurst moved to RG? I think he is part of the problem. If Ruiz is healthy, I would put Peat back in and move Hurst to the bench.

Have any of the OLinemen improved since Marrone has come on board?

This is exactly my take as well. Everyone quick to pile on Penning all season and to pile on Ram last game. Hurst is the common denominator between their performances. Penning was noticeably better with Peat next to him. I'm with you in moving Hurst to the bench and playing Peat and Ruiz. The Peat/Penning run blocking combo would be PHENOMENAL.

Not in a meaningful, long term way, but we need bodies

I’m not a good enough OL evaluator to determine who is the weakest of the starting 4 Ts and Gs, but I do, unfortunately, think Peat is probably 1 of the best 4 and would help, especially in run blocking.

I'd rather bring in a proven Vet than draft another OL guy who may, or may not, help.
