Once and for all. Declining college football attendance is NOT just an LSU problem

How many threads do we have to see about “empty seats” or “fans leaving early” every game? It’s a nation wide issue so either go to the game and enjoy it or give your tickets to someone else who will appreciate it. Fans have too many other better/comfortable options.

Translation: colleges are building luxury items for the super rich and it won't stop the decline in attendance which is wide and deep, not thin and narrow.

I have a feeling this won’t really be “once and for all”

Lol. Hate to agree but you may be right.

It’s obvious that fans attending games are secondary to the TV networks now.
Game times are set by the networks
Timeouts ruin the pace of play
Rules changes to eliminate plays help TV

I think with LSU specifically it’s a traffic flow issue. The game has to be a real exciting game to attend for anyone to have to deal with the traffic issues post game. That’s one of the reasons people leave early. Fix the traffic problem and, I believe, that fixes 50% of the attendance issues. Putting a good product on the field and the ease of watching it from home are the other 50% issues why people may not attend.

Not attending is one thing, but making the effort to get there then leaving early is another.
I could understand a blowout, but a tied game vs SEC rival is crazy.

Why be pissed about the expansion? We had about 85k in the stadium last night. It was a solid crowd. Arkansas brought a very small number of fans so the upper deck visiting section was empty. The stadium expansion was a money maker and really is irrelevant at this point.

You can buy cheap tickets outside the stadium at every game except Alabama every other year.
You can park for free at the grass levee lots or are the Old Back 9 lot across from Alex Box.

Regardless of all the perks, the stadium game experience is diminished by all the TV timeouts. This gave us more piped music and more worthless distractions. The game has lost its natural rhythm and the crowd doesn’t stay into it the same with the countless long timeouts.
Nobody cares, though. Sportsmanship and the game take a back seat to revenue.

This was mostly to get more luxury suites. Then you might as well add more bleacher seating on top.
Also this expansion coincided with lsu success and decrease in attendance across the board with things mentioned already like tv games and comforts of home

I lived in Houston for 12 years and now the FL Panhandle. I haven’t been to a game since ‘19. I’m going this year for the Auburn game.
When I was living in Houston, it became more and more of a pain to get to BR and deal with all of the BS. It’s just not worth my time.
I have a great house where I can sit in my pool and watch my 80” while grilling with friends and drinking my own booze. I get to watch all of the games and sleep in my own bed.
I don’t blame LSU. There isn’t much they could do to bring me back consistently.
